Jesus Is the Good News! {DVD Review}

Jesus is the good news! I love this, and I love sharing this message with our children! What about the hard parts, though? What about explaining why Jesus is our Savior – he died for us, and that’s a very serious truth. Our children know that, though I admit it’s not something I have explained in detail. How do you explain it to young children?

What’s In The Bible DVD Series Volume 10: Jesus Is the Good News! is the first DVD of the New Testament introduction from the What’s In The Bible Series. It not only goes into detail about the Gospels (how some start at the beginning {the birth of Jesus} and others start when Jesus was a man and baptized) but why they tell of the good news. It was a really detailed introduction of the New Testament! Once again, our kids were captivated by Phil Vischer and the fun puppets. It includes 2 – 25 minute episodes!

What I like most, though, is that this DVD doesn’t simply skim over the fact that Jesus died for our sins. In fact, it makes it a very prominent detail. After Phil Vischer talks about this, the characters comment how sad this is. They feel heartbroken – very appropriate emotions. I think they’re emotions that are very necessary for truly understanding what Jesus did for us. It explains how he died under all our sin.

If he died, though, how then did he conquer death? I love that they ask these questions because they are the type of questions the kids have! So, of course, he goes into detail about how Jesus didn’t stay dead, which, of course, is a really important part of the story! He is risen!

Having now reviewed two of the DVDs from the What’s In The Bible Series, we are hooked! We have definitely added more of the DVDs to our wishlist! I just love how they go into the important details and do so in a way kids understand and keeps their attention.
