Big Grips Review

August 28, 2013 by Emilee Evans

We had a chance to review a Big Grips Frame and Stand for our kids’ iPad 2. I was really intrigued when I first saw Big Grips. They offer something unique I had never seen before! They are made for kids because they are big and can be gripped more easily, which means less dropping! Plus with the stand you can use the frame in many different ways! Here is a picture from their website showing a few examples:
Big Grips
We received a purple frame and stand. The texture really is amazing, and our special needs children that all have some level of sensory seeking behaviors instantly took to the soft, squishy material. I did notice a difference in the way they were able to hold it as well. They all have difficulty with fine motor skills and dropping items are common – including the iPad. Even if we have their iPad protected it still makes me nervous when it is dropped! Since using the Big Grips we haven’t had any drops, which has been a pleasant surprise! It seems to be more comfortable for them to hold in general as well.
Big Grips
If they are doing something that takes a little longer we can simply use the stand to set it up, so they don’t even have to hold it at all! We don’t have cable, but they do watch shows on occasion on Netflix, so the stand is perfect for movie watching or even for working on homeschool/education apps at their desk.
Big Grips are also:

  • Non-toxic
  • BPA, latex, and lead free
  • Phthalate and PVC free
  • Resistant to stains, chemicals, oils, germs, and mold
  • Durable and lightweight
  • Easy to clean

We are big fans of the Big Grip for all of the reasons above. We definitely require something durable, and the fact that it’s also lightweight is definitely an advantage. Anything that is resistant to mess (and germs) and easy to clean is almost necessary in our home. As many times as I remind the kids to wash their hands before using the iPad and make sure we keep it away from food and mess it always seems to get messy anyway. So I’m grateful it cleans up easily. Plus, the ease of putting it on and taking it off makes it easy to make sure the iPad itself is clean as well since I check that regularly!
Big Grips come in a variety of bright colors and are available for a variety of devices. They even have a bag that fits the Frame to make taking the iPad on the go even easier!

I’ve been seeing ads for the Big Grips but haven’t seen anything else about them! They sound really neat. If I had an iPad, I would buy one for sure!! Thanks for the great review 🙂

This is EXACTLY what we’ve been looking for. Madison has dropped my iPad 2 a few times now and thankfully (miraculously??!!) it has not broken…yet.

I can’t even count the number of times ours has been dropped. I don’t even want to know! I’m just glad they haven’t dropped it since using the Big Grips, though! Even if it is protected it still makes me nervous!
