Born Skincare Review

February 5, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received the products mentioned to facilitate my review. Regardless, I only recommend products I feed would be good for my readers. All opinions are my own and those of my family.
Organic Skin care review
I am always on the lookout for organic skin care because truly organic skin care is hard to find! I was excited to have the opportunity to review Born Skincare. Born Skincare offers an organic skin care line that is ToxicFree and infused with grapes. In fact, their skin care is unique because each ingredient is hand selected. That is a lot of dedication! They spent years researching grapes and the benefits of grapes for the skin.
Their first line of skin care was released in February 2013, which is called The Source Collection. For my review, I received four samples from The Source Collection.
The Source For Skin
The Source for Skin is 100% pure Cabernet oil. It was recommended to use as a nightly moisturizer. Some benefits noted for The Source for Skin are: it’s a natural source of Vitamin E, so it is a suitable anti-aging moisturizer for all skin types that hydrates the skin while providing the nutrients and vitamins it needs as well. It also contains antioxidants and can protect the skin from environmental pollutants.
Upon using The Source for Skin I noticed that although it is an oil it’s not really “runny” like you would expect from an oil. It has the consistency of a thicker oil and a pleasant natural scent. There were definitely no artificial fragrances or perfumes, which is something I appreciate! I only needed to use about five pumps to sufficiently spread it over my face and neck. I noticed that on my face it absorbed rather quickly but took a little more time to absorb on my neck. This wasn’t a big deal since I was applying it at night before going to sleep.
Upon waking up I definitely didn’t feel any oil on my skin, and it felt so soft and smooth! Although I actually the natural scent, it has mostly dissipated by morning. I’ve only been using it short term, so I can’t attest for the long term features, but I do know my skin feels softer after use.

The Source for Men
My husband got to review The Source for Men. The Source for Men is a blend of organic oils and can be used as an aftershave or nightly moisturizer as well. It is noted to help with razor burn and loosen thick beard hair. It can also be used as a substitute for shaving cream or even mixed with shaving cream for a cleaner, sharper shave.
My husband generally doesn’t use shaving cream since so many of them have questionable ingredients, so this was a great opportunity to try something that may help his shave. He likes to use it both during his shave and as a nightly moisturizer. It has a more musky scent, which I’m glad to know is from the organic oils. It’s a really nice scent! He chooses to use it all over his face when he’s using it as a nightly moisturizer. He has noticed improvement with ease of shaving and softer skin.
The Source for Sensitive Skin
The Source for Sensitive Skin has a slightly thinner consistency than The Source for Skin. It is still thicker than basic oils, though. It is 100% pure Muscadine Oil and has a greener color. It is noted that muscadines contain the highest level of antioxidants which reap many benefits for the skin. It is also recommended as a nightly moisturizer, so I alternated it with The Source for Skin to get an idea of results from both. The Source for Sensitive Skin is noted for having benefits for eczema and other skin conditions and acts as a skin balancer for oily skin, which can help acne.
Again, I have only used it short term, so I haven’t yet seen the long term benefits, but my blemishes randomly flared up last week, and I did notice improvement when using The Source for Sensitive Skin. I imagine long term would have more effective benefits. It also has a nice natural scent that is different than The Source for Skin. It absorbs quickly on both my face and neck and leaves my skin feeling smooth. I’m really happy with how much calmer my blemish flare up felt after using it because it was pretty painful, too!
organic skin care review
The Source for Muscles
The Source for Muscles is a blend of organic oils: muscadine oil and eucalyptus oil. They are both noted to have natural anti-inflammatory properties and help alleviate muscle pain. If you have a lot of muscle aches and have been looking for something natural to alleviate them then this is a great option.
The Source for Muscles has a thicker oil consistency, and definitely favors the eucalyptus scent. In fact, upon use, it helped clear my stuffy nose, too! It was an added bonus! It did also help the muscles in my back, which are often tight. It has a slight cooling sensation. It is only slight, though, and definitely not too intense. Because it’s an oil it was also easy to use to really massage it in to the muscles.
Overall, I’m definitely happy with the Born Organic Skin Care samples I received. My personal favorite is The Source for Sensitive Skin, but I love that there are a variety of products with different benefits. Obviously, my husband’s favorite is The Source for Men. Also in their The Source Collection is The Source for Mothers, which is a combination of muscadine oil and coconut oil for pregnancy and beyond!

It’s nice that there are so many options on the market now-a-days for people who prefer organic products that are cruelty-free. And even nicer when you can read other people’s reviews to decide what you should buy. Thanks!

You are so right Organic skin care is hard to find. Then when you are lucky enough to find it … well so many of them are not that good. This is a well written review that makes me want to try this product!

I agree! I have that problem all the time! I find something that looks good and it either a) doesn’t work very well or b) isn’t as natural as it claims to be.

that’s good that this product is for sensitive skin which unfortunately I have. Now a days Organic skin care is hard to find which makes it hard to shop and find right products. I may have to look into this.
