Eco-Friendly Products for a Healthy Home

September 28, 2014 by Emilee Evans

When looking for eco-friendly alternatives, I love when I can find multiple products all in one place. It simplifies the shopping process and offers a reliable resource for transforming (or continuing) our goal of having a healthier home.
Disclosure: I received the products mentioned to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family. This post contains affiliate links.

Recently, Mommy’s Club got a makeover – and added a wealth of new eco-friendly products! The new name is absolutely perfect because what they offer are eco-friendly products to improve the health of the whole home from supplements to personal care products and eco-friendly cleaners! Introducing the Healthy Home Company!
I was thrilled when I had a chance to review the eco-friendly products back in March and was SO excited for the chance to review a variety of the newer products!
The Healthy Home Company offers so much for families. Not only do they offer a variety of eco-friendly products, but they also offer an opportunity for families to live healthier and build an income promoting more natural, eco-friendly living! Right up my alley! Who couldn’t use improved health and a way to generate additional income!
For my review I received a variety of products. Because I’m excited to share them all, I will start with the cleaning products.

Eco-friendly Cleaning Products

Healthy Home Company Review
I was so excited to try the cleaners. I worry about cleaners because I have run across many that claim to be eco-friendly or “natural,” and they have some pretty scary ingredients! So first of all, I was impressed with the ingredients. Plus, I love that they have so many uses!
The Clean 10-in-One is an eco-friendly All Purpose cleaner that can replace over 10 products in the home, including the bathroom, laundry room and kitchen. I’ve pretty much used it on everything – to clean the bathroom, kitchen, floors, as a dish soap replacement, and on the mirrors. I love that one product can do so much – and do it well! This is such an ideal product. I can use it for almost anything and it contains ingredients that are safe!
Strong (formerly “Tough Stuff”) can also be used on almost anything, and is perfect for the tougher jobs! Strong is noted to be effective against many types of bacteria, mold and mildew, and together represent a potent formula that replaces more than 10 products in your garage, those used for the home exterior, as well as tough jobs and stain removal inside the home. We recently moved and had some pretty tough messes to clean up, and Strong really gets the job done!

Eco-friendly Personal Care Products

I also received a variety of personal care products: Bug Spray, Deodorant, Men’s Two-in-One, Grow Hair Gel, and Sunscreen 32 SPF. (These are the new/current names of the products) I will highlight each product.
Healthy Home Eco-friendly Personal Care Products

Bug Spray

I love this bug spray! It contains essential oils that repel many different bugs, and, of course, it’s natural! No scary chemicals in this bug spray! It smells great and sprays a gentle mist for application. Plus the ingredients can also help soothe bug bites as well, which we also used for that purpose when we forgot to put it on first! It served both purposes well!

Deodorant

Deodorants are products that can contain a slew of scary ingredients, so it is hard to find deodorants that are both natural and effective. Deodorant is for both men and women and contains a blend of essential oils and other natural ingredients with a natural mandarin and earl grey scent. It is very refreshing! Plus, my underarms get easily irritated, and I have had no problems with irritation while using it!

Men’s Two-in-One

The Men’s Two-in-One is for both hair and body. It has a thin consistency and contains a variety of amazing ingredients. My husband took some time to get used to the consistency, but it definitely grew on him, and he loves it. He always appreciates 2-in-1 products, but it has been almost impossible to find one with safe ingredients. As a 2 time cancer survivor, this is very important to him, so I’m thrilled we were introduced to this!

Grow Hair Gel

The Grow Hair Gel is noted to thicken, stimulate growth and help reduce hair loss. It can be used by both men and women and can improve the health of the hair and hair follicles. I haven’t used this product consistently because although I am losing more hair than I used to, I still have very thick hair. I did notice improvement in the health and shine of my hair, though!

Sunscreen 32 SPF

Sunscreen SPF 32 is made with purified zinc oxide with the highest rated purity level by the United States Pharmacopeia-1. It protects against both UVA and UVB, which is definitely important. It contains 8 organic ingredients. It rubs on smoothly, has safe ingredients, and keeps us protected – it’s the ideal sunscreen!
I am so glad to be a Healthy Home Company Member, and I am glad I had a chance to experience more of their great products. I am so excited to continue sharing my passion of eco-friendly living and equipping others with knowledge and products that all-natural, toxic-free, BPA free, vegan, Non-GMO, Cruelty Free, and made in the USA. Nourish Your Body Naturally with Anna Naturals

September 3, 2014 by Emilee Evans

You know I am always on the lookout for natural products. When it comes to natural products, I look for products that are natural for both inside and out. What I find really exciting is when I run into a company that has a great variety of products and really makes an effort to provide products that are GMO-Free.
Anna Naturals Review
Disclosure: I received a variety of products to facilitate my Anna Naturals Review. Regardless, all opinions are my own.
That is why I am so impressed by Anna Naturals. I had a chance to review their herbal teas in my May Eco Emi Box on Deals of Sweetness, and I was impressed! When I was presented with the opportunity to review more of their products, I jumped at the opportunity!
Anna Naturals offers a variety all natural products for women that are truly enjoyable without all the scary chemicals. They offer products specifically for women’s needs including menstruation, pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum, and just the everyday products for things like energy and pampering – both things we need and enjoy! There are natural herbal teas, bath and beauty products, aromatherapy, and more!
Anna Naturals Review
I am in awe of all the products available – particularly for pregnancy, breastfeeding, and postpartum. I only wish I had products like these during my pregnancies and from breastfeeding through weaning. Unfortunately, we are unable to have anymore children, but looking over the ingredients in these products, I am impressed and can see how they would be extremely beneficial. The nipple cream is even food grade!
For my review I received two of their herbal teas, Goat’s Milk Soap, and Glowing Mama Face & Body Scrub.

Herbal Teas

Anna Naturals Review Herbal Teas
I am in love with the Herbal Tea from Anna Naturals. I fell in love instantly when I tried them in my Eco Emi box, so I was thrilled for the chance to use them regularly. The Energy Tea is amazing. I have Fibromyalgia with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so energy is something that doesn’t come easily to me. I appreciate that with this tea I can feel energized naturally. Not only does it contain natural ingredients for a natural energy and stamina boost, but it also contains essential antioxidants!
The Cycle-Ease Tea contains cramp bark, which is a natural muscle relaxant that primarily targets the uterus. Although I didn’t receive this during my cycle, I tried it previously during my cycle and was amazed. I have extremely painful cycles and try a plethora of natural remedies for relief, and it, by far, provided the most relief. I am so glad I will get to use it for my full cycle now! It’s fantastic!
Both of the herbal teas have a nice taste, and if you have a sweet tooth like me, you can add honey for sweetening. It really enhances the flavor.

All Natural Goat’s Milk Soap

Anna Naturals Review Goat's Milk Soap
I kind of have a “thing” for goat’s milk soap. It’s amazing. It leaves the skin feeling so soft. Anna Naturals really outdid it, though, with their Goat’s Milk Soap. Not only is it all natural, but it is lightly scented with certified essential oils for this nice, light citrus scent. It is divine! It leaves our hands feeling soft and smooth – and clean! We are loving this soap! It’s creamy, cleans well, smells good, and leaves our hands feeling baby soft. What’s not to love?

Glowing Mama Face & Body Scrub

Anna Naturals Review - Glowing Mama Face & Body Scrub
The Glowing Mama Face & Body Scrub is a walnut scrub. It is thick and creamy with exfoliating beads. It smooths on nicely, and I scrub it in well to really exfoliate my skin. I have problem skin and exfoliating is really important. It’s always nice to find a product that is natural that has exfoliating properties. To be able to use it on my face is a huge advantage. My face has been feeling so soft! It doesn’t feel greasy or too rough, it’s a nice blend. It almost has the consistency of a lotion! This is, by far, one of the best scrubs I have ever used.
Overall, I am definitely impressed by the Anna Naturals products. It’s not common that I receive a variety of products and really love every one. I love that they put so much effort into offer products that are all natural, GMO-free and perfect for women and our needs. I would definitely recommend their products!

Born Skincare Review

February 5, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received the products mentioned to facilitate my review. Regardless, I only recommend products I feed would be good for my readers. All opinions are my own and those of my family.
Organic Skin care review
I am always on the lookout for organic skin care because truly organic skin care is hard to find! I was excited to have the opportunity to review Born Skincare. Born Skincare offers an organic skin care line that is ToxicFree and infused with grapes. In fact, their skin care is unique because each ingredient is hand selected. That is a lot of dedication! They spent years researching grapes and the benefits of grapes for the skin.
Their first line of skin care was released in February 2013, which is called The Source Collection. For my review, I received four samples from The Source Collection.
The Source For Skin
The Source for Skin is 100% pure Cabernet oil. It was recommended to use as a nightly moisturizer. Some benefits noted for The Source for Skin are: it’s a natural source of Vitamin E, so it is a suitable anti-aging moisturizer for all skin types that hydrates the skin while providing the nutrients and vitamins it needs as well. It also contains antioxidants and can protect the skin from environmental pollutants.
Upon using The Source for Skin I noticed that although it is an oil it’s not really “runny” like you would expect from an oil. It has the consistency of a thicker oil and a pleasant natural scent. There were definitely no artificial fragrances or perfumes, which is something I appreciate! I only needed to use about five pumps to sufficiently spread it over my face and neck. I noticed that on my face it absorbed rather quickly but took a little more time to absorb on my neck. This wasn’t a big deal since I was applying it at night before going to sleep.
Upon waking up I definitely didn’t feel any oil on my skin, and it felt so soft and smooth! Although I actually the natural scent, it has mostly dissipated by morning. I’ve only been using it short term, so I can’t attest for the long term features, but I do know my skin feels softer after use.
organic skin care review
The Source for Men
My husband got to review The Source for Men. The Source for Men is a blend of organic oils and can be used as an aftershave or nightly moisturizer as well. It is noted to help with razor burn and loosen thick beard hair. It can also be used as a substitute for shaving cream or even mixed with shaving cream for a cleaner, sharper shave.
My husband generally doesn’t use shaving cream since so many of them have questionable ingredients, so this was a great opportunity to try something that may help his shave. He likes to use it both during his shave and as a nightly moisturizer. It has a more musky scent, which I’m glad to know is from the organic oils. It’s a really nice scent! He chooses to use it all over his face when he’s using it as a nightly moisturizer. He has noticed improvement with ease of shaving and softer skin.
The Source for Sensitive Skin
The Source for Sensitive Skin has a slightly thinner consistency than The Source for Skin. It is still thicker than basic oils, though. It is 100% pure Muscadine Oil and has a greener color. It is noted that muscadines contain the highest level of antioxidants which reap many benefits for the skin. It is also recommended as a nightly moisturizer, so I alternated it with The Source for Skin to get an idea of results from both. The Source for Sensitive Skin is noted for having benefits for eczema and other skin conditions and acts as a skin balancer for oily skin, which can help acne.
Again, I have only used it short term, so I haven’t yet seen the long term benefits, but my blemishes randomly flared up last week, and I did notice improvement when using The Source for Sensitive Skin. I imagine long term would have more effective benefits. It also has a nice natural scent that is different than The Source for Skin. It absorbs quickly on both my face and neck and leaves my skin feeling smooth. I’m really happy with how much calmer my blemish flare up felt after using it because it was pretty painful, too!
organic skin care review
The Source for Muscles
The Source for Muscles is a blend of organic oils: muscadine oil and eucalyptus oil. They are both noted to have natural anti-inflammatory properties and help alleviate muscle pain. If you have a lot of muscle aches and have been looking for something natural to alleviate them then this is a great option.
The Source for Muscles has a thicker oil consistency, and definitely favors the eucalyptus scent. In fact, upon use, it helped clear my stuffy nose, too! It was an added bonus! It did also help the muscles in my back, which are often tight. It has a slight cooling sensation. It is only slight, though, and definitely not too intense. Because it’s an oil it was also easy to use to really massage it in to the muscles.
Overall, I’m definitely happy with the Born Organic Skin Care samples I received. My personal favorite is The Source for Sensitive Skin, but I love that there are a variety of products with different benefits. Obviously, my husband’s favorite is The Source for Men. Also in their The Source Collection is The Source for Mothers, which is a combination of muscadine oil and coconut oil for pregnancy and beyond!

NATU Hair Care Review

January 18, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received the products mentioned to facilitate my review. Regardless, I only recommend products I feel would be good for my readers. All opinions are my own.
NATU Hair Care Review
Finding natural hair care products can be REALLY difficult! In fact, I would say it’s been one of my biggest challenges since I became more ingredient conscious over the past few years. Many products will tout “natural” or even “organic” on the bottles when they only have one or two natural or organic ingredients, and the rest of the ingredients are not only synthetic but harmful as well. It can be very misleading – particularly if you are new to the eco-friendly journey and don’t yet recognize harmful ingredients by their various names.
NATU Hair Care offers natural hair care with no gimmicks. They contain no harsh ingredients and are upfront about their ingredients. In fact, you can see their ingredient list on their website, and they even send a booklet with the products so you can learn more about them as well! They break down the ingredients that are listed as their scientific names to what is easier for us to understand.
You can be sure NATU products don’t contain these harmful ingredients:

  • No Sulfates
  • No Silicones
  • No Parabens
  • No Resins
  • No Phthalates
  • No Petrolatum
  • No Ethoxylates
  • No Artificial Colors
  • No Artificial Fragrances
  • No Animal Products

For my review I received the Professional Colorist Shampoo and Conditioner and the Silkening Mist. I do color my hair (although I’m much overdue for a touchup!), and my hair is coarse and VERY thick. The Silkening Mist is used to smooth out thick, coarse hair.
The first thing I noticed upon using the Shampoo and Conditioner was the scent. It was natural! One of the tricky ingredients that is often in most “natural” hair care products is synthetic fragrances. I recognized right away that they use lavender, which happens to be my favorite scent! When using the Professional Colorist Shampoo it is recommended to leave it sit in your hair for 1 minute before rinsing. Because it doesn’t contain harmful sulfates, the lather is a little different than what you may be used to. I suggest first rubbing it together in your hands before applying it to your hair. I found I didn’t need to use very much!
After rinsing out I use the Professional Colorist Conditioner and leave it sit in my hair for 2 minutes before rinsing. I found that the first couple of times I used too much, and my hair felt a little greasy, but when I used less and made sure to rinse thoroughly I had much better results. Plus my hair does tend to dry up throughout the day, so I noticed a difference in how soft my hair was!
After towel drying my hair I finished with the Silkening Mist. What a beauty! This really does make my coarse hair look so much smoother! Usually I have fly-aways everywhere, and it looks wavy and frizzy. I’m much happier with my smooth pony tail!
NATU hair
Overall, I’m really happy with the NATU hair care products. I would definitely recommend using them as a set as intended. They can be purchased individually or as a set on the NATU Website. I appreciate that they are up front about their ingredients and explain them all in detail. I also appreciated that they put the natural percentage on each bottle. They don’t try to hide anything! I feel good knowing they keep harmful ingredients out!
