Spring is in the air, which means that those christening invitations are likely to soon start dropping on the doormat. Parents like to have a bit of sunshine on their little one’s big day, so get a head start on your gift ideas for any new babies in your life. Christening gifts don’t have to break the bank, either. Take a look at these ideas to suit all budgets.
Baby Shoes
Find the most practical options including baby shoes and booties, sure to be appreciated by parents. Cute baby booties and first shoes make a lovely gift, and you’ll find pairs for just a few pounds at George at ASDA.
Why not make clothes and shoes into a really special gift by organizing them into a hamper or nappy cake, for extra wow factor on the gift table? The baby blue Star Print Booties or pastel pink Heart Print Booties would be a perfect addition to any clothing gift, both at just £4 per pair from George.
Jewellery
A charm bracelet is a gift that will grow with a child, and ‘Links of London’ has some beautiful examples of silver jewellery. The classic Sweetie Charm Bracelet or Disc Charm Bracelet can be added to on future birthdays and Christmases to become an heirloom, whereas the new Mr Men and Little Miss range of bracelets, charms and necklaces is super cute.
A Keepsake
Popular keepsake christening gifts include photo frames, money boxes, cutlery and trinket boxes, and Links of London has some stunning silver examples, especially in the new Mr Men range.
For a less expensive option, H Samuel has christening gifts, including Beatrix Potter items, within a budget price range.
A Special Toy or Book
A special toy or book is sure to be enjoyed by the recipient of the gift. Steiff teddy bears are sure to become future heirlooms, as well as well loved toys, and ‘My First Teddy Bears’ are available for under £30.
Alternatively, why not choose a favourite book from your childhood, to pass on the story. If you’re really lucky you might even come across a children’s author doing a book signing – check the websites of the larger bookstores and shopping centres for details of future events.
Money
Some people might think it in bad taste to give money as a gift, but it’s actually one of the most practical options for a small baby who won’t care about what they are given at the time. A contribution to a child trust fund or some premium bonds is a gift that will mean much more at the age of 18 to a grown up child. A small gift given 18 years ago could be put towards a car, travel, university fees or a flat deposit, helping those first steps into adulthood.
A spring christening is a joyous occasion, and choosing the right gift should be a pleasure. Choose from the above ideas to give the perfect gift to a little loved one in your life.

Its wonderful when a baby is christened;thanks for post.
Great ideas for when a baby is christened – I always have trouble coming up with good ideas!
Thank you for these ideas. We recently had our baby baptized and wish I had some of these to help. When we registered, however, we asked for diapers – all sizes – and it was later into her first year that we actually had to buy some. I also like books, but we have so many from our first baby that I think the other one are better.
I love this post so much. These Christening gift ideas are perfect! I think the baby shoes are the cutest ever. But I really find money as something very useful for the baby. Parents can keep it for the baby in the future. The ideas here are indeed so cool. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful thoughts!
