You’ve seen my posts about Craftsy and how much I enjoy their site, and you have probably seen ads all over the web as well! What IS Craftsy exactly, though? Here is a little more insight on what Craftsy is all about and what they have to offer!
What is Craftsy?
Craftsy is a worldwide craft community offering online classes. It also has a patterns marketplace where independent designers can sell their patterns; a supplies shop with great deals on yarn, fabric, and class kits; and a projects section where members share pictures of their latest craft successes. With over two million members and counting, Craftsy has something for just about everyone, in categories ranging from quilting, sewing, knitting, painting, photography, cooking, and more.
Why should I take a class online?
Online education isn’t just for schools and universities anymore. Craftsy courses provide you the convenience of a world-class instructor in your home, whenever you want to learn. Online education, no matter what subject, is a great alternative to in-person classes for a number of reasons.
With many online learning opportunities being on-demand, you are able to learn at your own pace, anytime. Online learning is a fantastic alternative to in-store craft classes for people with busy schedules or who have difficulty leaving the house. It also allows you to watch a troubling section over-and-over again, so you can see exactly how a technique is carried out, or refer back to your class for relevant concepts before beginning any new projects.
With Craftsy, there are so many options, and you get to learn on your time. Craftsy classes make a great holiday gift! Or you can take a class yourself and give the projects you make as gifts! Head on over to Craftsy to get started with one of their Free Craftsy Classes!
I would love to learn how to craft online. I am not crafty at all. Thank You
Would anyone recommend this for my 12 yr old who wants to start sewing her own clothes?
I know a few people who have either done the classes with their children or had their children take the class.
I think classes are a great idea, once completed she can have the machine she got from her aunt. She sketches her own designs and has begun cutting patterns. She’s so talented at a young age and I want to support her but, not move her any faster than she’s already doing on her own. Thanks for the reply Emilee!
Definitely! Plus, they are self paced, so she can go at her own pace, which is nice. That’s one of my favorite things about their classes! That is awesome that she is developing her talents!
I would LOVE this! I have never known how to sew, but I am a quick learner and pretty crafty!
Thank you for the review. I am going to enroll in a Craftsy sewing class, since I have not had one since High School and need a refresher
