Tomorrow is the day! We will be off on our trip to Houston with the Go Houston! Travel Bloggers. We’re getting everything packed and ready to go so we can leave in the morning. We’ll drop our pup off at our friend’s house and then we’ll be off on our 3-hour drive!
We actually visit Houston fairly regularly since we both have family there, though we usually stay at my grandparents’ lake house on Lake Livingston since there are no dogs there. Then we don’t have to worry about taking our pup with us and upsetting other dogs since some of our family have dogs that don’t always like big dogs. Houston is actually where my husband was born and raised. It’s where I met him when I decided to move there from Ohio for a change of pace. It’s where we got engaged, married, and had our first son. In a few months (or whenever his medical retirement with the military is complete) it’s most likely where we’ll be living again!
*Flash-back photo: Here we are right after we got married!*
The fun thing is, the kids will get to experience some of the best attractions and entertainment in Houston this weekend that they’ve never experienced. Actually, there are many I and even my husband haven’t experienced! So, we are beyond excited to take a vacation “home” and share it with our kids and experience even more of what Houston has to offer!
I can’t wait to watch the CityCentre fireworks from our beautiful Hotel Sorella. I can’t wait for all the wonderful food, movie, attractions, and more! If you’re not already following me via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram – I will be sharing our trip along the way. I will be posting reviews shortly after the trip! I can’t wait to share!
What are your plans for the holiday weekend?
Sounds like a lot of fun! I love it when I get a chance to share something I enjoyed with my children! Found you through UBC!
Me, too! It’s awesome! Thanks for stopping by!
I have just ‘stay at home and veg’ plans but yours sound exciting and I hope you enjoy!
Thank-you!
sounds like fun and happy 4th of JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Happy 4th of July!
My son and fiance live in Houston for almost one year. They called today and have a full calander of events for the 4th. Everybody in Houston have fun!
Awesome! Thanks!
I spent way to much time in Dallas a few years ago (working) and for some reason that really turned me off of Texas. I look forward to hearing more about your Houston trip to see if I can be convinced to visit Texas again!
Oh goodness, yes, don’t let Dallas define Texas for you! There is so much more to it!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time planned and then went and did it. More power to you! My 4th of July consisted of lots and lots of sleep… *sheer bliss* ๐
Sleep is good!!
Oh yes, blissfully good. Now to try and retrain my 16 year old cat to stop turning the bedside lamp on and off, on and off, on and off (because she knows I will stay asleep if she simply turns it on, but if she pulls the chain repeatedly I will stagger out of bed and feed her – anywhere from every 45 minutes to every two hours… you’d think she could just bug me for food when I am bloody awake – you know, before and after work??, but no, she has to torment me for leaving each day to earn the money to buy her danged food!). Whew – not holding on to any resentment there was I? LOL
LOL That’s so funny that she actually turns your lamp on and off!
It does make for a good story, just not such a good reality ๐ She is too smart for her own good…but I love her and she knows it LOL [It is rather like have a newborn, but for about five or six years straight – thankfully she hasn’t done this all her life, or at least not when I first adopted her.]
How wonderful that you guys were able to get away! Well deserved, for sure. ๐
