MakIt Review and Giveaway {over}

June 7, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Personalized Products
MakIt offers a variety of products that you personalize such as: plates, tumblers, mugs, bowls, and platters. MAKit takes your artwork and photos and turns them into personalized treasures. They make great gifts or great treasures for your family to enjoy over and over. For my review MakIt sent us a Make A Plate Kit. MAKit is operates right here in the great state of Texas!

With MakIt’s Make A Plate kit, you can create a design using a blank templates and washable markers that they then bond to durable, break-resistant melamine plates. They are sturdy enough to use everyday and are dishwasher safe (but NOT microwave safe). The plates are BPA-Free as well and are 10 inches in diameter.
Our kids had a blast creating their plates! Because you get so many templates there is plenty of room for error, so I was able to give the kids free reign and didn’t have to hound them while they were creating their art. I wanted to give them creative freedom, but I knew not all of the designs would be good for the plates, so I love that they send so many templates so they could enjoy lots of creative time, and I knew we would still get some art work that would be great for the finished plates. We chose one piece of art work from each child to send in for a final plate. For our 3 year old, it was just scribbles, but to me, that is still precious because that is his art at this stage in his life!
I also wanted to make a more controlled project for my husband’s Father’s Day gift, so I traced all of the kids’ hands and wrote their names and the date. This was a little harder to “make perfect,” and we did still have a smudge, but it was the closest one to “perfect” that we got! When you have three children with sensory special needs sometimes you just take what you can get! Overall, though, I am very happy with the way it turned out, and we do really treasure it! My husband really liked it! We got our plates back rather quickly, particularly since we are only 3 hours away from the manufacturer, so it was obviously a VERY early Father’s Day Gift, but he really enjoyed it!

The plates really are durable, and the kids absolutely love using “their” plate. We have already used them over and over again without any signs of wear or any issues! I love that they are BPA free and dishwasher safe. Overall, I think the Make A Plate kit makes for a great homeschool art project, summer project (if you’re not doing school for the summer), or for a wonderful personalized gift like for Father’s Day!
