The Promise: The Birth of the Messiah is a beautifully animated musical that celebrates the birth of Jesus.
About The Promise:
This beautifully crafted musical is a faithful adaptation of the birth narrative from the Gospel of Luke in both story and song. The animated production leverages optical motion technology to blend traditional animation techniques with the performance talents of ballet dancers and dramatic stage actors. The result is a unique and worshipful story experience that will inspire audiences young and old for years to come.

The Promise is presented by Glorious Films. More about Glorious Films:
Glorious Films is the home of high quality entertainment products created from a strong biblical worldview. The creative and technical teams are world-class and have come to from all over the globe. Their first film, The Promise, is an animated musical about the nativity story that will be released in 2013. The second film, The Prodigal, an animated musical based on the parable of the prodigal son, is in production for a Spring 2014 release.
We love The Promise! The animation is absolutely beautiful, and the musical style just adds that special touch. I was afraid it might be something my husband and I would enjoy a little more than the kids because of our appreciation for art and music, but the kids were really into the movie as well. They may not have noticed the fine details in the animation like we did, but they really enjoyed the style and the music! It is also just the right length for even younger kids to enjoy!
Of course, we love how The Promise is the story of the true meaning of Christmas. It starts from the very beginning right before Mary was told she was chosen to be the mother of the Messiah. From the very beginning it is made known that Jesus is the promise everyone has been waiting for, and it is a big celebration when He arrives.
I think it is a beautiful way to share the true Christmas story with your family. I love that it follows the Gospel of Luke – it’s a Bible story that has come to life in such a beautiful way! If you’re looking to share what Christmas is truly about or just want to add a beautiful Christmas movie to your collection, I think The Promise is a great movie to do so!
