Rock 'N Learn Sight Words

September 21, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Sight WordsAs you may know, I am a big fan of learning that is fun because our kids are more receptive and open to what they are learning when they enjoy it! Rock ‘N Learn offers a variety of Apps, Music, and Videos for fun learning.
We have an old Rock ‘N Learn Letter Sounds video, which the kids really enjoy. When I saw the chance to review Sight Words Level 3 I was thrilled! Sight Words Level 3 covers all Dolch First Grade Sight Words as well as many on Fry’s List. It also reviews some of the sight words from their Sight Words Level 1 (Pre-K) and Sight Words Level 2 (Kindergarten). Both of our older two children are finishing up the First Grade in our homeschool year in the next couple of months, though sight words in general have been challenging. I knew a First Grade level sight words DVD would be perfect for them!
Rock ‘N Learn Sight Words Level 3 has definitely been a big hit in our house. The kids enjoy watching it, and they are definitely learning the words. They love Festus the armadillo and all the other characters on the DVD. They also love to sing and dance while they are learning!

Upon visiting the Rock ‘N Learn Website I learned that they have received over 150 rewards. Just recently, Sight Words Level 3 was a Gold Winner for the 2013 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) Children’s Products competition.
I can certainly see why! Our kids really have been learning so much. The repetition of the words combined with the fun style really helps them to learn in ways that I can’t. I appreciate that by the end of the DVD it challenges them to read the sentence before they do. This helps to reinforce what they have been learning because they realize it’s not just for fun, but that they are expected to know the words, too. Of course, they both love a challenge, so it’s also a fun way to get them engaged to express what they have learned. It’s been a great supplement to our reading curriculum!

Looks like a good video, did you break it up or play the whole video?

What a great video – I love when we can combine their entertainment time with some education time so they don’t realize I am always pushing educational stuff at them! 😉
