Subway is teaming up with the Wounded Warrior Project!

October 30, 2012 by Emilee Evans

Wounded Warrior Project has a special place in our hearts. Not only are they a wonderful organization in general, but I reached out to them for help when we were struggling to get the care my husband needed and was being treated unfairly shortly after his cancer treatment. Many organizations wouldn’t offer help because he, unfortunately, got cancer within his first 2 years of service and hadn’t yet deployed. Many organizations don’t help soldiers that have or had a life-threatening illness versus a war-related injury or illness. It was a hard time for us because obviously he didn’t CHOOSE cancer, and we had nobody to help advocate for us! Wounded Warrior Project immediately became our advocate and helped us out! In areas where they couldn’t help us they gave us the information we needed that would help us! I have heard many other positive stories about the WWP and how they have helped many families and acted as an advocate for many families who have experienced illness or injury!

Subway
When I heard that SUBWAY was teaming up with Wounded Warrior Project to help further their mission to honor and empower wounded warriors I had to share!

In addition to a $111,112 donation, SUBWAY will also help raise WWP’s visibility and awareness by showcasing some of their inspiring wounded warriors’ stories on their social media channels.  They will also host a special giveaway on Twitter the weekend of November 9th calling for fans to recognize their inspiring hero with a shout out including the hashtag #SUBWAYSalutes, and a pic of their favorite sub. To join the conversation, visit them on Twitter, @Subway, from 11/9-11/11 for a chance to win FREE $25 SUBWAY cards for you to enjoy with a veteran in your life.

Are you a military spouse or parent as well? They want to hear what being a military spouse and/or parent means to you, so please share with them on Facebook or Twitter

Jared “the SUBWAY guy” Fogle will make a surprise lunch time visit to a military base on Friday, November 9th to help kick off our national program and partnership with the WWP honoring veterans! Will it be ours? Will it be yours? I’m excited to find out! 🙂

Also, if a qualified veteran that you may know is interested in opening a SUBWAY restaurant on a military or government location the franchise fee is waived! If they would like to open in another type of location they can also receive a reduced fee. This is an awesome opportunity! My husband is in the Medical Board Process (he will be getting medically retired from the military), and opening a franchise is definitely something he has been considering, so when they shared this with me as well, I was excited to find out more! I love that SUBWAY is honoring our veterans in this way!
