An Amazing Time at #Babypalooza

August 27, 2016 by Emilee Evans

One of the awesome events I got to experience at Blogger Bash was Babypalooza! I not only had the chance to connect with some amazing brands and check out some of the latest baby products, but I won some great prizes, too! Not to mention I got to meet the incredible team behind Maletzky Media!

Babypalooza took place on Thursday, July 14, 2016 aboard the Majesty Yacht! It was so much more than just learning about some of the newest (and impressive) baby products – it was also so much fun! There were giveaways, contests, a celebrity meet and greet and more!

Amazing Baby Products

I got to check out and learn about some amazing baby products! Just a few of the amazing baby products include:

  • A self-installing car seat from 4moms.
  • A high chair that is as easy to clean as putting it in the dishwasher from Fisher-Price. Seriously, even the straps were easy to clean!
  • An innovative way to introduce babies to peanuts with Hello, Peanut!
  • Amazing Baby Carriers – including Toddler Carriers that can be used from 25lbs all the way up to 60lbs from Tula Baby Carriers.

Amazing Baby Products at #Babypalooza
Our youngest is now 6, and I can’t tell you how many times I said “wow, I wish they had that when my kids were babies!” I have many friends and family members that have babies or are expecting, and I couldn’t wait to tell them all about these amazing products – and you as well!

Eco-Friendly Products for the Whole Family

Additionally, I was excited to be introduced to some great eco-friendly products. As parents, we want to use products that are safe for our children. Because of our health challenges, this has been particularly important for our family. It’s also important for me to share that information with others in hopes of helping them protect their families! I love that there were companies there with the same mission of keeping little ones (and even the whole family) safe!
I was so grateful to receive some products both at Babypalooza and the Swag Bag I received! Some of the brands and products I was excited to be introduced to were Oilogic Essential Oil Care, Aleva Naturals, Dolphin Organics, and the familiar Boudreaux’s Butt Paste.

Plus, it was great to see eco-friendly brands I have worked with including Natrapel and Fresh Wave!
Eco-friendly living is about overall health, so I was also happy to see some great nutritional offerings as well like NuturMe and Kabrita.

Games, Giveaways and Celebrity Meet and Greet

As if all the great baby products, eco-friendly products and even products for parents wasn’t enough, there were some fun games and giveaways as well! Shortly after I left Babypalooza I got an email saying I won a prize from Oilogic! I received a great bag of their kid-friendly, properly diluted essential oils as well as some goodies for me!

Boudreaux’s Butt Paste had an extremely fun challenge. Who can change the diaper the fastest? I’m out of practice, so I wasn’t sure how well (or poorly) I’d do, but I decided to give it a shot. 13 seconds. I say that’s not too bad for someone who hasn’t changed a diaper in a while – not to mention being on a rocking boat! I believe the winner was only around 10 seconds. That’s one skilled dad!

Plus, one of my favorite brands I’ve worked with, Armitron, was there. I not only had the opportunity to meet Noah Galloway, but after returning home I received an email letting me know I won an Armitron Watch! I chose a gorgeous Gunmetal bracelet watch with Rose Swarovski® Crystals! As a Disabled Veteran’s wife, I definitely appreciate all Noah Galloway has done (and does) for the Veteran community!

#Babypalooza

The amazing thing is, this was just part of it! I had such an amazing time at Babypalooza! I got to learn about some amazing baby products, family-friendly and eco-friendly products, play a fun game, enter some amazing giveaways, and meet an amazing inspiration! What a fabulous time! I am so glad Babypalooza was part of Blogger Bash!

Blogger Bash Takeaways from a First Timer!

July 23, 2016 by Emilee Evans

Blogger Bash Logo
So you may have seen on social media that I was in New York City last week for Blogger Bash, and I’ve been eager to share my Blogger Bash takeaways. It was a lot of “firsts” for me:

  • First time going to a conference specifically for bloggers. I’ve been to a few different conferences as a blogger, but they weren’t specifically for bloggers.
  • First time in New York City. Seriously. That alone was a whole lot of “first” experiences! lol Stay tuned because I’ll be posting about my experience in the big city as well!
  • First time on a boat for a conference.
  • First time sharing a room with someone I had only talked to online. The good news is, she is awesome. So is her blog! Be sure to check her out at Mommy by the Sea.
  • First time at a wax museum. It was slightly creepy, but also really cool!
  • First time on a bus tour, which was so much more than a bus tour! Did you see my videos on Instagram?!
  • First time staying in a room with an adjustable bed.

OK, there is probably more, but I’m sure you get the idea. I may have lived near a couple of big cities over the years, but I am definitely still a country girl!
There is really SO much I could share about Blogger Bash NYC! I’d love to share my experience at the Care Bears Brunch, Sweet Suite, Babypalooza, New Products Expo, etc., but if I tried to cram it all into one post it would be WAY too long (and you’d probably get bored). So, I’ll be sharing more about each (including some of my favorite products) in subsequent posts. To make them easy to find I’m also going to link them to this post when they’re complete!

Blogger Bash Takeaways

Blogger Bash Takeaways
I got to connect with some amazing bloggers and brands (and even won some amazing prizes), but there is so much more to Blogger Bash. It truly is an awesome experience! Here are my top Blogger Bash Takeaways:

  • Be confident in what you do and what you offer. I am a bit timid and a lot socially awkward, but that’s OK. With encouragement and advice from other bloggers, I went in there with confidence knowing who I am and what I offer is valuable. We have quite a complex family with special needs and medical issues, but that’s what makes Pea of Sweetness unique.
  • Know your elevator pitch. This kind of relates to the point above, but it’s really important. (Probably even more so if you’re socially awkward like myself.) When someone asks you “what is your blog about?” have an answer ready. Know that answer, practice that answer, and be confident in that answer.
  • Expand your network. I think we all fall into a “comfort zone.” We stay in the same network groups even if we get that nagging feeling there is more out there. Well, there truly is more out there. I connected with a handful of bloggers that are ideal for networking with as we fit each others’ niches. I found we’re even in some of the same groups, but I never thought to reach out and expand that circle.
  • People care about your success. Knowing all the work the organizers put into Blogger Bash is absolutely amazing. It is seriously a huge blessing. Knowing they take the time to put this all together for us shows that they care about our success. It’s easy to burnout and get overwhelmed in the blogging world. Knowing there are people who want to help can make a big difference!

Blogging Concentrated

Blogging Concentrated was just one part of Blogger Bash, but I had many Blogger Bash takeaways specifically from it. Although I probably could write an entire post about it, it fits so well with the “takeaway” topic that I wanted to share it here. The main thing I learned that really stuck with me is how I’m allocating my time. So often we think we need to be pushing out content, but what if that’s not the best use of our time? What about posts in our archive? Could we spice them up and push them out again?
Things around here have been absolutely crazy. I can’t even keep up with the posts I need to do let alone try to push out more evergreen content. I have a BUNCH of things in my archives from when I first started blogging and had a smaller audience. Although it takes time to revamp a post, I know that it may be a better use of my time than writing more original posts right now.
Plus, I have a nice long note of other ideas that were sparked to help me grow my blog (as well as my income). I didn’t get to sit through all of it because I was blessed with the opportunity to do The Ride, but in the time I was there I got so many great ideas and left feeling refreshed and inspired!

Blogger Bash NYC

I can’t say enough good things about Blogger Bash NYC! I was nervous about going. It’s a big city and I wouldn’t know anyone, and for me that is really intimidating. I had to save up some money and take a few days away in the midst of some craziness, but I am so glad I took those chances. I really did meet a lot of great brands and made some lasting connections with amazing bloggers. It was definitely worth it, and I can’t wait to go to Blogger Bash again next year for even more Blogger Bash takeaways!

I've Been Featured!

July 16, 2016 by Emilee Evans

As I’m still recovering from my trip to New York City for Blogger Bash, I’m trying to get my bearings straight again. What an amazing time! I can’t wait to share more about Blogger Bash, the amazing sponsors, and even the travel itself! I predict I will be taking some downtime this week to try to get everybody back into our routine. OK, and I can’t just travel like I used to. I’m exhausted! Ha!
One of the emails I received while I was out of town was from SheSpeaks to let me know they published my spotlight post! I am so excited to be a featured blogger on She Speaks, but I didn’t have a chance to share it until now! I’m so thankful they reached out and let me answer some amazing questions to get to know me better!
Featured Blogger on SheSpeaks

What is SheSpeaks?

The Tag Line for SheSpeaks is “Your Power to Influence,” and that really is what She Speaks is all about! They launched in 2007 to help “elevate and amplify women’s voices.” SheSpeaks members get to voice their opinions on just about anything! Members get to try products, share their thoughts, and even get to connect with a great group of women! There are parties and giveaways, discussions, recipes, polls and so much more! Plus, members don’t have to be bloggers.
As a SheSpeaks Blogger, though, I am excited to connect with amazing women as well as great brands!

More Exciting News!

I also feel so very blessed that I won Runner Up for Local Mom Blog in the 2015 Findlay Family Favorites! Findlay Family is a local publication, and I am glad to be a freelance writer with them! Things were so crazy I didn’t even have a chance to announce that voting was open, so to receive Runner Up really was a surprise and a definite blessing!
I’m always so grateful for your support!

Technical Issues and Rebranding (Without Changing Names!)

June 11, 2016 by Emilee Evans

Well, we’re going through some changes around here. There have been some very unwelcome technical issues, and I am so sorry if you’ve tried to access my site and it was either down or loading very slowly. In a crazy attempt to get things running better again, I’ve been changing around some things on the homepage. Right now, I’ve mostly been removing some things, but I hope to add them back again soon!
So I ask that you please bear with me as we work through these technical issues. I do know it can be so frustrating (I have been in tears over it at times!), and I am so very appreciative of your support. Please know I’m doing all I can to get things running better again.
Because I have been making some changes to try to lessen the load on my server, I decided now is good a time as any to announce I’ll be making some more drastic changes. Since I’ve already started removing things from my side bar and footer, once the technical issues have cleared up, I will begin the transformation to my new brand – yes I’m rebranding. But no, I’m not changing my name or URL.
So alas, I will be “Under Construction.” Once the technical issues pass, this should not affect the function of my website – just the look and feel. One minute it might look one way and when you click over to something else it might be totally different!
Under Construction
Confused? Well, I started Pea of Sweetness as a website to showcase my craft and sewing products. They were primarily baby-centric and eco-friendly. When I then progressed into blogging, I still had a pretty big focus on things like cloth diapers and having a toddler, though I introduced homeschooling as our older two children were of school age. As our toddler grew, so did my content. I still talk a lot about eco-friendly living because it’s a huge part of our lives, but obviously there are no more cloth diapers (or toddlers).
I feel like the look of Pea of Sweetness and even the name it represents (if you read my About Us section you will see it is, indeed, based on a baby name) hasn’t grown with the content, though. It still has a very “baby” looking feel to it. As we are unable to have more children (something that sometimes is a really hard fact for me), I feel it is time to progress away from that image.
Rebranding is tough, though. It is really A LOT of work. Finding a name that fits your brand then hoping that domain is available is hard enough. Then setting up all of your content in the new domain and setting up redirects! Eek! Can it be done? Sure! In fact, I’ve seen some amazing and very successful rebrands this past year. Is it a lot of work? Oh yes! Can you hire someone to do it? Yep. Is that expensive? I would think so!
Regardless, I’m taking a different spin on it. I’m embracing what I have and putting a new spin on it to rebrand Pea of Sweetness while still being Pea of Sweetness. I’m going to be setting up a new logo and a more “sophisticated” looking theme. I’m partial to the colors, but we’ll see how it goes! I’ll also be changing my tag line. Although I surely am (and will always be) working on my journey to Proverbs 31, I want Pea of Sweetness to mean something more than a cute nickname.
Do you know what, though? I’m going to wait until it’s all set up for you to see what it is! 😉
Again, thank-you so much for your patience. I am so blessed by your support, and I can’t wait to get through this big hiccup and then reintroduce Pea of Sweetness in a whole new way!
