Beautiful Eye-Catching LED Christmas Lights

December 9, 2015 by Emilee Evans

It’s that time of year! I love decorating for Christmas. After multiple moves, I haven’t yet found all of our decorations, though. I was so excited for the opportunity to review LED Christmas lights and get the decorating started!
LED Christmas Lights
Disclosure: I received a complimentary product to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure Policy for more information.
These beautiful LED Christmas Lights are wonderfully bright and offer a variety of colors. You can choose to stay on one color or alternate colors. With the convenient remote, it’s easy to change the settings. I, personally, like to change it up so they look a little different every day! There are so many options!
LED Christmas Lights Remote
Settings on the remote include color options, jump and fade changes, and brightness adjustment. What really makes it unique, though, is the lights respond to music. These settings are on the bottom of the remote, and there are four options. If music isn’t sensed but the 1st (general music) or 2nd (tenderness music) settings are chosen the lights will work in a pattern, they will be off on the 3rd (DJ music) setting and stay on the current colors in the 4th (active music) setting. Such a unique feature, right?
The LED Christmas lights are bright and very eye-catching. Plus, they were easy to put up! They are on an LED strip that has adhesive on the back. We simply had to make sure the area above the porch was clean and stick it on! Unfortunately, one one side of the porch they didn’t want to stay. I’m not sure if it’s because it wasn’t clean enough, but we used some clear packing tape over them in a couple of spots. Because they are flat and bright, you can’t even tell!

What I find interesting as well is you can actually cut the lights as needed to every 3 LEDs. No worries about bulbs going out and having to find the bulb that’s out so the rest of the lights will work! This is just an easy, convenient alternative to traditional Christmas lights – and they look amazing, too!
These LED Christmas lights can be purchased on Amazon.

Why Do We Call it Christmas?

November 20, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Christmas can be rather confusing for young children. Is it about Jesus? Is it about Santa? Presents? Stockings? What is it all about and what does it all mean? Why do we call it Christmas?
Disclosure (in accordance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”): Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.
Why Do We Call it Christmas?
Buck Denver Asks … Why Do We Call It Christmas? Who is Buck Denver?

Buck Denver Asks … What’s in the Bible? is the 13-DVD series from VeggieTales® creator Phil Vischer. In his first new project since VeggieTales, Vischer has set out to teach kids (and parents!) the story of the Bible – God’s great rescue plan!

We are becoming familiar with Buck Denver Asks…What’s in the Bible?, and I was excited to check out this movie. You see, Christmas is one of the things I have a hard time explaining. We, personally, don’t celebrate Christmas with Santa Claus coming on Christmas morning, and I have a hard time explaining why some people do. This DVD not only told us how Santa Claus is related to Christmas by going into details about Saint Nicolas – who he was, how there was a Saint Nicolas Day on December 6th, and how it came to be that we started referring to him as “Santa Claus.”

Additionally, we learned exactly why it is called Christmas and why it is celebrated on December 25th. I have to admit, I learned A LOT from this movie myself! So not only do our kids have a DVD they enjoy watching and learned about Christmas, but I have a better idea of why we call it Christmas as well!
We all really enjoyed this movie, and if you have young kids, it is a great movie for explaining exactly why we do call it Christmas using Biblical history that has fun characters they will enjoy!

The Promise Review and Giveaway *Over*

December 4, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: As a member of the FlyBy Promotions Blogger Network I received The Promise DVD to facilitate my review. Regardless, I only recommend products I feel would be good for my readers. My opinions are my own and those of my family. This post contains affiliate links. Please see my Disclosure Policy for more information.
The Promise
The Promise: The Birth of the Messiah is a beautifully animated musical that celebrates the birth of Jesus.
About The Promise:

This beautifully crafted musical is a faithful adaptation of the birth narrative from the Gospel of Luke in both story and song. The animated production leverages optical motion technology to blend traditional animation techniques with the performance talents of ballet dancers and dramatic stage actors. The result is a unique and worshipful story experience that will inspire audiences young and old for years to come.

Get a sneak peek in the movie’s trailer:

The Promise is presented by Glorious Films. More about Glorious Films:

Glorious Films is the home of high quality entertainment products created from a strong biblical worldview. The creative and technical teams are world-class and have come to from all over the globe. Their first film, The Promise, is an animated musical about the nativity story that will be released in 2013. The second film, The Prodigal, an animated musical based on the parable of the prodigal son, is in production for a Spring 2014 release.

We love The Promise! The animation is absolutely beautiful, and the musical style just adds that special touch. I was afraid it might be something my husband and I would enjoy a little more than the kids because of our appreciation for art and music, but the kids were really into the movie as well. They may not have noticed the fine details in the animation like we did, but they really enjoyed the style and the music! It is also just the right length for even younger kids to enjoy!
Of course, we love how The Promise is the story of the true meaning of Christmas. It starts from the very beginning right before Mary was told she was chosen to be the mother of the Messiah. From the very beginning it is made known that Jesus is the promise everyone has been waiting for, and it is a big celebration when He arrives.
I think it is a beautiful way to share the true Christmas story with your family. I love that it follows the Gospel of Luke – it’s a Bible story that has come to life in such a beautiful way! If you’re looking to share what Christmas is truly about or just want to add a beautiful Christmas movie to your collection, I think The Promise is a great movie to do so!
You can purchase The Promise on Amazon for $14.99

Coming Home for Christmas Review and Giveaway *Over* (ended 12/4)

November 20, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received the product mentioned to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
Christmas DVD
Coming Home for Christmas is a movie about a family that has been torn apart. After 5 years of two sisters not being on speaking terms their parents separate. They make a plan to reunite the family in the house in which they grew up in hopes of bringing their parents closer again, but unfortunately their parents were no longer living there, and it had recently sold to someone else and is now occupied.
It turns out that might not be so bad, though!

Although Coming Home for Christmas is definitely a family-friendly movie I think it’s definitely more enjoyable for older kids and adults. I am a big fan of the type of Christmas movies that have a good story line that is touching as well, and Coming Home for Christmas definitely fits that description! It’s a story of ups and downs and a lot of heart changing moments. The sisters have very different personalities, but even though they weren’t on speaking terms it was obvious they cared about each other.
Of course, since my husband is an Army vet he pointed out that one of the main characters was in an Army uniform, but he was supposed to be a Marine. haha I noticed it, too. I think not many people would notice something like that, though! It was easy to get over and enjoy the movie!
Coming Home for Christmas has a story line that kept me engaged and eager to find out how it would turn out! It’s about a family with very real problems that are relatable. Coming Home for Christmas has some classic Christmas traditions and some nice music in the movie as well! Both of the daughters and the father sing. It was a really nice touch! I don’t want to spoil the movie, but I will say I found Coming Home for Christmas to be a very sweet, touching Christmas movie that brings hope to Christmas. I love that it is done by Norman Rockwell and includes a limited edition Norman Rockwell print, too!
