Steampunk Style with Anytime Costumes

October 5, 2014 by Emilee Evans

I was so excited to choose a costume for Trick-or-Treat this year because not only will we be going to Trick-or-Treat, we’ll also be going to Hallelujah Night at church and participating in the Halloween Edition of the Color Fun Fest. That means more opportunities to wear my costume, so it has to be good, right?
Anytime Costumes
Because I loved my costume I reviewed from Anytime Costumes in the past, I was excited for the opportunity to work with them again. This year, I knew exactly what I wanted – Steampunk! I was thrilled with the variety of Steampunk Costumes they offered!
You may be wondering What is Steampunk? I’ll be honest, I wasn’t even 100% sure until I read that article. I just knew I liked the style! What an amazing history – think Victorian era with a science fiction twist! Love it!

Because my style preference is a more modest style, I chose a Steampunk Costume with a knee length skirt. I was so impressed by the quality of this costume when I received it! The buttons are sturdy and are actually real buttons. I have gotten costumes in the past that looked like buttons, but the buttons themselves weren’t functional. They were just for style and had a snap or velcro underneath. Although there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that, I definitely love that this just isn’t the case!
In addition to functioning buttons, this Steampunk Costume has thick, sturdy fabric. The lace is elegant yet solid – not a lace I feel overly worried about tearing easily. The skirt waste is elastic and flexible, which I love. I can move it up a little since I have a long torso, and then I can be sure it will line up with the corset without any “skin” in between.
Speaking of the corset, although it’s not a solid corset, I was still impressed by the quality. It has a thin, looser material in the back, buttons in the front and has boning for support. Plus it ties in the back to ensure a good fit.
Of course, because it is Steampunk I had to add a few of my Steampunk Accessories as well to really round out the look! Anytime Costumes has a variety of Steampunk Accessories available as well – including a pair of boots that are on my Wish List that I need to get soon!

I am in love with this costume! I love the quality, functioning buttons, and the flexibility. If I get too hot with the over jacket on, I could simply take it off! Of course, I personally think the look is best with the jacket, but I love that it’s a possibility – particularly if it doesn’t start to cool down soon here in Texas!
What costume will you be wearing this year?
