Do You Bake? Review *Giveaway Closed*

May 18, 2012 by Emilee Evans

I got the chance to do a review for my friend Destiny with Do You Bake? She let me choose any mix she had on hand, and I chose the Cinnamon Donut Muffins. We’re BIG cinnamon fans in this house! 🙂 I was really interested in doing this review because Do You Bake? is a newer company, and they offer products that are 100% natural – no preservatives or additives, and they’ll send you an ingredient list upon request! All mixes come with instructions, and they even offer recipe suggestions for their special spice blends! The packaging is so eye-catching, too! I know that may be a random fact for some, but I must say I, personally, enjoyed the nice-looking packaging!

After reading the instructions I was ready to get started. As I mentioned before I don’t really have a whole lot of kitchen tools. This mix makes 12 muffins, but I only have a muffin pan for 6. No big deal, though, I just split it up into 2 batches! There’s always a way to make things work! All I needed to make these were common ingredients – milk, an egg, and butter. Optionally, though, I greased the pan with organic olive oil spray instead of butter. The instructions were very straight forward and simple, which is important when you have 3 kids standing around asking what you’re doing! haha There were 2 little bags in the package that were clearly labeled, so I knew which to use when. I used my little electric hand mixer and mixed everything nice and quick. It smelled so good! I was as anxious as the kids to try them!

While the first batch was baking I started on the “2nd half” of the recipe, which was a like a cinnamon sugar dip. I just needed to melt a little butter and put the contents of the 2nd bag in another little bowl for dipping. I always like to get the kids involved in projects in the kitchen, so when I read this part of the recipe I was super excited because I knew this was something they could do! Even the youngest got in on the fun! We waited for the first muffins to cool down a little before we started the dipping, and by the time we were finished the 2nd batch was done baking! The 2nd batch of muffins were a bit bigger than the first because I guess I didn’t spread out the batch evenly (I actually tend to over-fill when it comes to muffins, but this time I was a little too cautious and under filled the first batch), but they turned out great as well! We had already dipped and eaten all but one of the first muffins by the time they were done, though! One for each of us, and they were DELICIOUS! So even with my minor “issues” they still turned out fantastic and tasted great!

I didn’t get a picture of the littlest guy taking his turn because he decided to actually climb ON the table, so I had to intervene! haha But it was simple enough that even he was able to dip one – and eat it immediately! I am just so excited that their products are natural and taste SO good! I know a lot of people with food allergies and sensitivities appreciate natural products, and we do, too, because a lot of those artificial ingredients can trigger/intensify the behaviors and sensory concerns in our kids! So what a blessing it is to give them a yummy treat that we won’t regret later! Plus we got to enjoy some great family time dipping them and enjoying them together! Thank-you, Destiny, for letting me review this yummy treat! :)
