Global Game Changers {Review}

We had the chance to review an Award Winning Superhero Activity Kit from Global Game Changers. I was really excited about this because I personally feel teaching our children about helping others and community service is very important, and Global Game Changers does so in a way that is fun, challenging, and rewarding. It takes a concept that might be otherwise difficult for young children to understand (particularly if they have social challenges) and relates it to something they not only understand but love – being a super hero!
Global Game Changers
We received a Global Game Changers Activity Kit to review with our 5 year old daughter. The recommended ages are 4-10. The kit includes a Global Game Changers Storybook, Superhero Activity book, and a Superhero Equation Activity Sheet so they can discover and record their superpower. It also had a letter written just for her, which I had to read given she’s just learning as well as information on their website and how to connect, engage, and become a Global Game Changer! Of course, I can’t forget the fun part – a hot pink cape and green Global Game Changers bracelet!
Global Game Changers
We started by reading the book (after her letter), which the whole family enjoyed together. The story is fun and inspiring as it shares the story of Global Girl, Little Big-Heart, and their dog Pixel as they recruit more super heroes to join GGC. They are real kids to whom other kids can relate doing things to help make a difference! I love that in the story they even make it a point to make it known the “recruits” don’t have super human strength or special abilities – they just want to help. No matter their age they can still do good and make a difference!

The Activity Kit is full of activities that are both fun and engaging. They get kids thinking about their own superpower. It explains more in depth the mission badges and how you can help. Because I had been sick we haven’t yet made it through the book, but upon completion your child takes the official GGC pledge, and you put their photo and name on their card, which I will laminate for sure! It recommends going to their website to get connected for more! The Activity Book has coloring pages, dot-to-dot, finger puppets, trading cards, cryptograms, spy-the-difference, mazes, and so much more! There is also a fun Mission Up! Card Game, which we’ve really enjoyed because you can play it so many different ways, and an origami style game that reminds me a lot of a game I used to play when I was kid! It is another way to get them engaged by asking questions and getting them thinking about ways to help!
Global Game Changers
Aurora has been having fun with the activities and brainstorming ideas for her own superpower along the way. We decided to take our time to come up with something that would be a good fit. What is her equation? Talent: Drawing + Heart: Animals = Drawing pictures for a calendar to sell and donate profits to animal shelters. Awesome, right? We’re trying to think of some other great ways to combine her talent and heart, but that was the idea we came up with together, and I think it’s pretty clever! We may even look into going to local adoption events and taking them to the events as well to both be given as gifts to those who adopt as well as a way to help the shelter raise funds. She will also be making cute signs with pictures letting people know what the shelter needs such as food, treats, beds, etc.
I think Global Game Changers is such an amazing way to get kids thinking about what they can do to help. Although we always do try to encourage our kids to look for opportunities to serve GGC really takes it to the next level by not only making it fun but by providing the “Superhero equation.” It is such a great idea! I am really appreciative of this and we got a kit for our 7 year old as well because even though we now know the tools he obviously needed his own credentials, cape, and bracelet! I can certainly understand why Global Game Changers has won so many awards!
It’s always great to encourage your children to give back, and Global Game Changers offers a positive, fun way to help.
