Fun Hymns and Songs Activity Kit for Kids

February 10, 2015 by Emilee Evans

As a busy homeschool mom that is always planning and preparing activities I absolutely love resources that make it easy for me to get our kids involved in activities with very little preparation!
Hymns and Bible Songs Bible Activity Kit
Disclosure: As a Family Christian Blogger I received complimentary products to facilitate my Bible Activity Kit review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family. This post contains affiliate links.
Family Christian offers many great Christian resources for families and children including great activities for kids to help engage them in learning God’s Word.
For our review we received the Growing in Grace Hymns and Bible Songs Activity Kit. The kids were so excited to check it out they dove right into the activities before I could even snap a picture of the kit (hence the missing stickers). 😉 The kit includes a music CD, an activity book, 2 double-sided crayons, and 2 sticker sheets.
I allow our kids to choose the order of the activities, and they started with sticker activities because stickers are fun!
Hymns and Bible Songs Activity Kit
Activities vary from placing stickers based on a person’s action, what type of music note it is, dot-to-dots, games, mazes, coloring, tracing, choosing your favorite way to praise, and so much more! The activities are ideal for young children – preschool to early elementary age. Our 4 year old and 7 year old have been working together on the activities and helping each other, which is always nice! In fact, they’ve been working together so nicely, Bart wanted to relax next to them!
Hymns and Bible Songs Vol 1 Review
I love that in addition to the activities, there is the music CD as well. The kids can listen to the music while doing the activities or any time! Kids learn a lot through music, and I think it’s important to be sure they’re listening to the right music. The CD contains 20 different songs, and I have been singing along to most of them – now they are, too!
I think the Hymns and Bible Songs Activity Kit is a great Bible activity kit for encouraging kids to enjoy positive music and stay busy with activities that fun and faith-based. At under $10 it is an amazing value!

Devotional for Kids

February 3, 2015 by Emilee Evans

It’s important for us to have devotionals as a family. Ideally we like devotionals the kids can understand but are still good for the whole family. When I found out one of the most popular devotionals was available for kids I was excited to check it out!

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young 365 Devotions for Kids

Family Christian offers many great Christian resources for families including the popular devotional Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, and I was so excited to be introduced to the Jesus Calling: 365 Devotional for Kids! It was just what we needed to get a great start to the new year!
For our review we received the Jesus Calling: 365 Devotional for Kids.
Jesus Calling for Kids Review
What I love about this devotional is that it hasn’t necessarily been written in a way that makes it childish. It isn’t full of bright pictures and simple words. There is nothing wrong with that, and we have many books like that, which I find very helpful, but it’s not what I was wanting for family devotional time. Instead, Jesus Calling: 365 Devotional for Kids has been written in a way that kids can understand – a way to which they can relate.
We have been loving our family devotional time, and I finally feel like we have a devotional we can work through as a family. I feel like it is not only speaking to our children’s hearts but ours as well! It has really been a blessing and when everything has been turned upside down by such a big move, it’s comforting to have our devotional time where we can all just connect and get closer to God together.

Mom's Night Out Available on DVD at Family Christian

December 9, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Have you ever watched a movie that just makes you nod your head like “I can relate!” That is how I felt when I saw Mom’s Night Out. Needless to say, I was really excited for the chance to own it on DVD!
Disclosure: I received complimentary product to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Moms' Night Out DVD & Blu-Ray: Get it now at FamilyChristian.com

Family Christian offers a variety of family-friendly faith-based entertainment and products. I was excited to discover they would be offering the Mom’s Night Out DVD.
Mom’s Night Out is a hilarious movie about a mom blogger that feels stuck in the mommy rut. She decides they need a night out without kids to just enjoy each other’s company and have adult time. Little did they know it would turn into quite an unexpected adventure!
What I love most about Mom’s Night Out is not just the fact that I can relate (which seriously makes it more hilarious), but the fact that it has an important faith-based message. I think as moms we all feel a little burnt out and overwhelmed at times. We feel like we have to meet these overwhelming expectations – like we’re not “good enough.” Good enough for who?
That is an important question! How many times do we set expectations for ourselves and feel defeated because we can’t meet them? Does it mean we’re not good enough as a mom, a wife, a blogger, etc.? What does God say about who we are?

Mom’s Night Out is really a fabulous movie that the whole family can enjoy. It is Dove Family-Approved for all ages. I am the only one who has watched it in our family so far because I seriously did need a mommy time-out to just have some quiet time where I wasn’t working, but this is a movie I would definitely feel safe about the whole family watching (though I suspect because our kids are so young they might not be interested).
Do you need a good laugh and a refreshing perspective on expectations? Then you will definitely want to check out Mom’s Night Out! The Mom’s Night Out DVD is available for purchase at Family Christian.

Jesus Calling Devotional

About Jesus Calling:

After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to “listen” to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but they were helping her grow closer to God. They are written from Jesus’ point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling.
Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. It is Sarah’s fervent prayer that our Savior may bless you with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure. To that end, she shares Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence, featuring devotions for every day of the year. In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope. Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace.
This remarkable book includes a year’s worth of daily readings from Young’s journals to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from monologue to a dialogue.
