Canyon Bakehouse Introduces Gluten-Free Brownies and Bagels

July 28, 2015 by Emilee Evans

Canyon Bakehouse is one of the first gluten-free breads we tried where our family was in consensus that it was enjoyable! Working on consuming less (or no) gluten has been quite a journey, and finding breads was one of the hardest things. So I was so glad I had a chance to review gluten-free bread from Canyon Bakehouse and was definitely excited to try their new products!
Canyon Bakehouse
Disclosure: I received an assortment of products to facilitate my gluten-free brownies and bagels review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
We are continuing to work on transitioning to gluten-free and I have already noticed a difference in our health. I am always on the lookout for tasty gluten-free snacks that the whole family will love! Canyon Bakehouse recently introduced gluten-free bagels and gluten-free brownies.
For our review we received Brownie Bites, a bag of Plain Bagels, and a bag of Everything Bagels.
Canyon Bakehouse Gluten-Free Brownies and Bagels
I haven’t enjoyed a bagel in a while, so I was excited to try both types of gluten-free bagels. I love toasting them a little and adding strawberry jam or apple butter or pumpkin butter. Yum! These bagels are great! They still have a great taste, and I didn’t feel like I was “missing out” because they have a great taste! If I just ate one without knowing they’re gluten-free, I wouldn’t have known!
I love that there is not only Plain Bagels but Everything Bagels as well! The Everything Bagels include a blend of garlic, onion, poppy and sunflower seeds. It has a great flavor. I have been enjoying them with just a little butter, and it’s so good! Both bagels have a nice texture.
Canyon Bakehouse Gluten-Free Bagels
The Brownie Bites are a great snack. They are a great size for a quick snack. I appreciate that they’re whole grain and non-GMO as well! They are a little flaky and dry, but that might be due to the shipping process. I figure if I buy them at a local store that wouldn’t be the case. They have a great cocoa flavor, and it’s definitely a great alternative to other treats and sweets I probably shouldn’t be eating!
Overall, we enjoyed the new products from Canyon Bakehouse. Additionally, they use a dedicated gluten-free bakery and use natural ingredients and whole grains. Plus, Canyon Bakehouse offers gluten-free support in their online gluten-free community, which is great for a family like ours that is still navigating toward a gluten-free lifestyle.

June 28, 2015 by Emilee Evans

As an official blogger for the Gluten Free and Allergen Friendly Expo, I got to try a lot of great gluten-free products and one that particularly caught my interest were the protein bars from NoGii! I loved that they had both delicious chocolate bars as well as paleo bars! As a mom on the go, I love having healthy snacks on the go and love that I can find some that are wholesome and gluten-free!
Disclosure: I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms Meet program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of this product.
NoGii LogoCreated by Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Gluten-Free Mom, Emmy Award-Winning Talk Show Host, and New York Times Best-Selling Author of The G-Free Diet and Deliciously G-Free, NoGii is a line of certified gluten-free protein bars, protein powders, and paleo bars. They do not contain high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, or hydrogenated oils. NoGii offers a variety of choices of good, clean, certified gluten-free, and nutritional food choices that fit busy and active lifestyles.
For my NoGii review I received an assortment of NoGii gluten-free protein bars, paleo bars, protein powder, and even a great t-shirt and the (book)!
NoGii Review - Gluten-Free Protein
Not only am I loving these bars, but our family is loving these bars! There is something for everyone! Our daughter doesn’t eat chocolate (weird, right?) so the paleo bars are right up her alley, and the boys will eat just about any of them! What I love is that we’re getting a healthy protein boost and they’re so easy to just take with us on the go.
We’re an outdoors family. We’re often out fishing, at the park, on the boat, and then, of course, there are all the doctor’s appointments that come with having a special needs family. I love that I can grab a handful of NoGii bars, and we have a healthy snack when we’re out and about! Of course, a bonus is that the kids love them as well because we have a couple of picky eaters. We can get a healthy boost without the fuss! Plus there are so many varieties, it’s easy to find one you (and they) will love!
NoGii Gluten-Free Protein Bars
Having health concerns, we’re really working hard to cut gluten out of our diet, and the NoGii bars have been a great step in the right direction. We can have a healthy without the worry of gluten, which is a huge advantage. So not only are we getting high-quality protein, but we’re getting it a bar that is gluten-free and healthy all around. I don’t have to worry about any of the scary ingredients!
The protein powder is a great and quick protein shake. It also contains high quality protein. It mixes up well and tastes great! It is also gluten-free and has probiotics as well, which I love! Overall, I would say I definitely use the bars more simply because they’re just so easy to pack and take with me!
NoGii Gluten-Free Protein Powder
As someone new to the gluten-free journey, I am loving The G-Free Diet. I am still reading it, but so far I have been really impressed with all the information. In fact, I feel like I’ve learned so much like what foods/ingredients contain gluten. It starts with a wealth of information and moves into going gluten-free, which is where I am in the book as well as in our life!

Delicious Gluten-Free Sonoma Flatbreads

June 9, 2015 by Emilee Evans

I was so excited to be an official blogger for the Chicago Gluten-Free and Allergen Friendly Expo this year and got to check out a lot of great gluten-free goodies! Our family is working toward a gluten-free lifestyle to help manage our medical conditions. It’s been a challenging and slow process but discovering delicious gluten-free foods like Sonoma Flatbreads from Donatos is making our journey much easier!

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
We love pizza around here. I mean, we seriously LOVE it! Of course, it doesn’t always love us – particularly myself. Not to mention, in addition to gluten I worry about the other ingredients as well! So I was excited to learn that the Sonoma Flatbreads by Donatos are not only gluten-free, but they have no preservatives, artificial flavors or colors! Of course, I also love that they’re an Ohio company as well!
The Sonoma Flatbreads are definitely not boring, either! They are available in a variety of flavors (Uncured Pepperoni, Chicken and Fire Roasted Peppers, Four Cheese and Fire Roasted Vegetables) as well as sizes (Personal, Pizza for Two and Family Size)! For our review we received the Pepperoni, Four Cheese, and Chicken and Fire Roasted Peppers. Because I love flavor, I definitely had to try the Chicken and Fire Roasted Peppers first!
Sonoma Flatbreads by Donatos Gluten-Free Pizza
It was delicious! In addition to the toppings on the pizza it also included a pack of crushed peppers, but I opted not to use it. This pizza was fantastic! It was full of great flavor, and the crust was amazing. I was really enjoying the flatbread! It was extremely simple to prepare, and the crust was a nice balance of crispy but soft – just what we enjoy!
The kids’ favorite was definitely the Four Cheese. They all love cheese pizza, and I love that the Sonoma Flatbreads offers a healthier alternative. Even our extremely picky little guy was loving the Sonoma Flatbreads. The best part, though? He would eat it ALL! Generally he doesn’t eat the crust, but because of the style of the flatbreads, he ate (and enjoyed) all of it!
Sonoma Flatbreads is one of the fastest growing gluten-free brands in the U.S. (with 3,500 points of distribution!), and I can see why! Overall, our family was very happy with the Sonoma Flatbreads, and as a busy mom, I appreciate the convenience while knowing I’m offering a healthier choice! The Sonoma Flatbreads are definitely a delicious gluten-free pizza!
For my fellow Ohioans, you can find Sonoma Flatbreads by Donatos at Kroger, Meijer, Giant Eagle, Walmart, Fresh Thyme and Raisin Rack! Not from Ohio? No worries! Check out their page on where to buy Sonoma Flatbreads in your area!

Canyon Bakehouse Gluten Free Breads Review

March 21, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received an assortment of products to facilitate my gluten free breads review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
Canyon Bakehouse
We have been working on going gluten-free for quite some time. Between my having Fibromyalgia and Sensory Processing Disorder as well as two of our children having SPD and one being on the Autism spectrum, I know it would be very beneficial for all of us. I have found it to not be quite challenging, though, as many of the foods we love have gluten. As I learned to cook more gluten free foods, something I still stumble on are the breads. All the recipes I tried resulted in breads with a very gritty texture, and because we do have sensory aversions, this was not pleasing to any of us! Breads we bought were just bland. They lacked “fluff.”
When I was invited to try Canyon Bakehouse Gluten Free Breads I was definitely eager to try them! Could this be the solution to our bread woes?
For our review we received 7-Grain, Cinnamon Raisin, Rosemary & Thyme Focaccia, and Hamburger Buns.
Wow was I excited to try the Cinnamon Raisin bread! I am a huge fan of Cinnamon Raisin bread, and I couldn’t wait to try a gluten-free cinnamon raisin bread!
Cinnamon Raisin gluten free breads review
I was not disappointed. It is so full of flavor and has a consistency so much like “regular” bread it really is hard to tell it’s gluten-free. Plus, the sweetness doesn’t come at a high price. It is sweetened with organic agave syrup – one of my favorite natural sweeteners. I love to toast cinnamon raisin bread and use butter, but I even grabbed a slice or two just by itself for a quick pick me up snack, and it was just as good!
The Rosemary & Thyme Focaccia is actually the first time we’ve ever had Focaccia. I guess we were missing out because it was delicious! It’s the perfect dipping bread! I am a big fan of using bread with spinach dip, and I finally found my bread! I read there are many other possibilities as well! This is definitely a bread I will get again.
The 7-Grain packs healthy whole grains, and because it is more like a “traditional” loaf of bread, we used it for our sandwiches. This is where we have had problems with gluten-free breads I have made – the breads for our sandwiches. Everything has been too gritty or thick and not at all fluffy. They have all just been a completely undesirable texture. I was so pleased with the 7-Grain bread. I did worry it would be gritty or thick, but it wasn’t at all like the thick, gritty textures of the breads I made. In fact, I had no complaints from the kids, which is always the test indicator. Talk about exciting! I’m a little less picky, so although I enjoyed it, I knew that would be the real test, and I was glad they enjoyed it as well.

The gluten-free hamburger buns really impressed me because they were so fluffy. They came in handy for my husband’s birthday party and surprised others that they were gluten free as well! They’re large, too, so it definitely fit the burgers without a problem! They definitely passed the test as well!

Overall, we really enjoyed the Canyon Bakehouse Breads. I appreciate that they make the breads in their dedicated gluten-free bakery and use natural ingredients and whole grains. I can tell they are passionate about offering a gluten-free alternative without compromising quality that have the taste and texture people love. I can definitely appreciate that!
