After enjoying LEGO KidsFest in Texas in 2013 we were so excited for the opportunity to visit the LEGO® Creativity Tour in Columbus now that we’re here in Ohio! It was an event we absolutely couldn’t miss!
This is a sponsored post on behalf of LEGO® Creativity Tour. My family received 4 tickets to attend the event. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and those of my family.
When the day of the LEGO Creativity Tour came, we were so ready to go have some fun! We attended the second Friday session and definitely had some fun! Our time was a little different than our previous time since the kids are older. We decided to take it in stride and let our trip unfold as it would. I really enjoyed the session breakups because it definitely helped us set up a plan. We knew exactly how long we could be there and knew it wouldn’t be overcrowded, which is always an advantage when you have children with sensory challenges!
We got started right away! First, we had to stop to see Spider-Man and play the game at the little LEGO city. It’s a game where you search for specific things within the scene, and it’s so much fun! After that we proceed to one of the building areas. The Monochromatic Build area offered the chance to build with multiple bricks of the same color. It’s fun to see what everybody comes up with!
One of our youngest son’s highlights was one of the big Build Areas. He not only got to create whatever he wanted, but he also got to have it displayed in the case. What I loved about this is that it didn’t matter that he has special needs and has a hard time building something fancy. He got to build what he wanted to the best of his ability, and they made him feel really special!
Once more the kids enjoyed the big Brick Pile. There were many kids enjoying them! It’s just so fun for them! They can build a little or just play in it!
Of course, I can’t forget to mention the life size models of various characters. They are seriously amazing! They are made up entirely of LEGO® bricks! We saw some of our favorites from LEGO Kidsfest and a few new ones! We had to walk through and check them all out!
The kids had fun posing with the lion and building and racing little cars. It was fun testing them to see how they would work and how well they would race!
In addition to all the great LEGO related activities, there were additional activities that were a blast for the kids. They learned a little bit of science thanks to COSI and got to climb a rock wall! They had so much fun!
Overall, we actually spent almost the full time there! We did so much and had so much fun, but there was also so much more! Some of it was geared more toward older children and/or adults as it was more challenging. I love that they offer such a variety for young children all the way through adults! There is something for everyone! In fact, one of our friends joined us as well!
We definitely had a great time at the LEGO Creativity Tour, and can’t wait for it to come around again! Be sure to connect with the LEGO Creativity Tour/LEGO Kidsfest on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date!
The LEGO® Creativity Tour is Coming to Columbus! {Ticket Giveaway!!}
We had an absolute blast at the LEGO® KidsFest a few years ago in Houston and I am so thrilled it’s coming to Columbus next month! Our family cannot wait to go! When I even mentioned it to my husband, our kids got so excited!
Disclosure: Our family will be receiving complimentary tickets to the event in exchange for my posts and promotions. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
The LEGO Creativity Tour, Powered by LEGO KidsFest, is coming to the Greater Columbus Convention Center Nov 20-22 for eight identical sessions. The LEGO Creativity Tour will offer children of all ages an opportunity to build, create and enjoy an immersive LEGO experience through engaging play areas, family-oriented building activities and more.
Some of the activities in the 118,000 square-foot space include:
- LEGO Model Museum: walk among life-sized models made from LEGO bricks
- Race Ramps: build a custom car, then race it down the ramp against friends and family
- Challenge Zone: the whole family is on the hook to show off their creative building skills in this emceed challenge
- Construction Zone: enjoy a creative build, play, and display area
- LEGO DUPLO: the youngest builders can explore building their imaginations and so many ways to play with DUPLO bricks
- Brick Battle Zone: join a team and compete in fun activities like relay races, tower speed build and bridge building contests
- Big Brick Pile: dive into the largest pile of LEGO bricks ever seen to build something amazing
- LEGO Art Gallery: create a custom masterpiece and display it for all to see
- Monochromatic Builds: limiting the materials to one color and one size creates amazing results
- And much more!
Our kids are obviously older now, but I have no doubt they will still love some of their favorite activities like the Big Brick Pile! They thought it was so much fun!
“Since we began the LEGO KidsFest six years ago, we have been flooded with requests to visit more cities and regions across the country, but they don’t all have the space to host a KidsFest,” said Vince Rubino, senior events manager at LEGO Systems, Inc. “The LEGO Creativity Tour leverages some of the best of the LEGO KidsFest experience in a more flexible format to enable us to visit with even more families with an interactive, hands-on LEGO celebration.”

LEGO KidsFest Texas
This is a sponsored post on behalf of LEGO® KidsFest. My family received 4 tickets to attend the event. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
We were eagerly counting down the days to LEGO® KidsFest here in Texas, and it finally came! We attended the opening session yesterday and had a blast! We planned out our time there ahead of time, but as things usually go for us, the plans went right out the window. It looks like many people had the same plan for the starting point as we did, and since all of our kids have special needs in the sensory department (and I do as well) we opted to first go where the least amount of people went! It was a great way to start off! We started at the DUPLO® Build Area, which gave the kids an opportunity to start playing right away! The boys started at the traditional bricks, and Aurora headed for the girl colored bricks! They each got fun crowns to wear!
We also had to stop by the LEGO® Friends area where our daughter had a blast posing for a picture and building a project with girls, flowers, and a puppy! She loved that there was a girl area!
Next, we headed over to one of our oldest son’s favorites – Ninjago! There were multiple tables set up to make different Ninjago Spinners and battle! Everyone really enjoyed this!
One of the popular and really fun parts of LEGO® KidsFest is the BIG Brick Pile! It’s just a huge pile of loose LEGO® bricks for kids to play in! Kids were running, jumping, and laying down and burying themselves in bricks! What a blast!
Of course, one of the coolest things at the LEGO® KidsFest are the life size models of various characters. They are seriously amazing! I can’t imagine how much time it must take to put them together. They are made up entirely of LEGO® bricks! The kids really loved seeing Lightning McQueen, but we enjoyed all of them really! We posed with a few of our favorites!
I took some pictures of a few more as well!
We also picked up some pirate hats and looked at LEGO® scenes where it tells you to find certain items in the scene. That was A LOT of fun! We found a lot of funny things, too, like Buzz Lightyear roasting a turkey. One of the scenes has a character from Ben 10 as well! We spent a lot of time on those scenes. It was awesome! We also built and raced some cars, watched some contests and games, and visited their large shop.
Overall, we spent 2 hours there, which was plenty of time to do all the things on our list and peek at some of the other great things that were going on! There was the “Creation Nation” where they add the LEGO® creations from the KidsFest to a basketball sized map of the USA. We also watched some of the contets in the LEGO® Challenge Zone. They also had Life of George, which looks like a really cool interactive game for your mobile smart device! There was also City Undercover, which we attempted to visit, but our youngest was in full sensory meltdown by that point, so we couldn’t check it out, but it looked like it was FULL of great activities! There was also Chima, Hero Factory, sessions with a LEGO® Master Builder, and various build areas. I saw many adults there WITHOUT children, and I can see why! As an adult that grew up playing with LEGO® bricks, I really enjoyed and appreciated everything at the LEGO® KidsFest!
We definitely had a great time, and we’ll definitely go again when it is Texas again next!
