We have a curriculum

August 24, 2012 by Emilee Evans

Well, I did it! After tossing around the idea of getting a curriculum this year or just making my own, I decided to get a curriculum! Talk about a last-minute decision! I wasn’t feeling well again today (it’s a medication issue I hope will be fixed early next week!), I ended up just resting for my birthday. When dinner time rolled around I decided I wanted to get dinner out. While being out for dinner I decided I wanted to get the My Father’s World curriculum because it’s a budget friendly curriculum, and I have heard great things from other homeschoolers with younger age children. So we headed up to Mardel  in Waco. Yes, it’s about an hour drive, and yes, it was already 7pm! Did I mention last minute? I knew we’d be busy tomorrow plus I wanted to have the whole weekend to get everything ready so we could start on Monday – despite having 3 different Dr appointments! I really feel this is a wonderful option for our family because I really am a person that likes to have plans, and a curriculum like this was a great way to have plans without the worry of making them myself. I think given that I’ll already be working around therapy appointments, a possible move by the end of the year, etc. this was the way to go, and I’m really excited about it! I still plan on doing a few of our own things, of course, and our daughter (Kindergarten) will still be on “my” curriculum, but I have to say I feel SO much better about starting on Monday now! I think I like organization so much that the fact of not having the school year already completely planned was getting to me! Stress averted! 🙂

I also love that I have friends who can deal with my last minute madness! I was so happy my friend Stacey who lives up there met me there after my random text saying I was on my way up there and would be there in an hour! And she even waited for me when I realized mooselion didn’t Even have pants on, so we had to buy him some! Wow! Did I mention it was a random decision? Haha
If you homeschool – do you use a curriculum? If so, what do you use? If not, please share your experiences as well! I LOVE to learn more about other homeschooling families! 🙂
