Having been in the network marketing industry myself for many years I know that there so many tools out there it’s hard to decide what is worth the investment. Is it new information or is it the “same old stuff.” Shane Jeremy James is a credible source and covers all the bases in Networking to Wealth. Whereas most resources cover one or two main points, he really hits them all! He starts from the very essentials of network marketing through what it takes to succeed and be a leader in the industry.

I can’t tell you how many books I have read for “motivation.” I felt from the very introduction that Shane isn’t out to just sell these strategies and butter them up to sound good. He truly cares about both the network marketing industry and the people he’s reaching. Whether you are looking to grow your business or don’t even have a business yet Networking to Wealth is definitely the book to read. It is full of helpful (and genuine) information, facts, and comes from somebody who has been there and was willing to open up and share his journey and expertise so others could benefit!
I feel like even though I am no longer in the network marketing industry there was still A LOT I could take from Networking to Wealth for both my blog and my crafting/sewing business. I am really glad I got the opportunity to read it!

Some changes

I’m sure you’ve seen my posts on my Facebook Page concerning decisions I’ve been trying to make as far as business concerns, etc. I have a lot on my plate. That is obvious! haha I’ve been able to balance it very well thanks to my need to be an organizer. The “problem” is I want to do something more. I want to go back to the reason I started Pea of Sweetness to begin with – homemade products! I took on Direct Sales/Network Marketing businesses because sitting at my sewing machine was not realistic while my husband was going through his chemotherapy, and I was taking care of a newborn and 2 preschoolers (with Special Needs at that!). Well, I took on A LOT of different businesses because they each had a special place in my heart or a special interest, etc. I know I wrote about that at another time, but perhaps and update will be necessary soon! Basically, though, I want to focus on my PASSION! My PASSION is offering a better alternative to chemical filled products, eco-friendly products, “natural” living, etc. Something that I’ve discovered is not my passion is the Initials, Inc. home parties. Weird, right? I’m not “bad” at them, and I actually was doing fairly well, but I again had to consider my priorities, how much I could “handle,” how I could realistically balance my time once I started adding in the sewing, projects on my Silhouette, and homemade natural products like soap, body wash, cleaners, etc. (the latter will be further down the road, but it’s a decision I’ve definitely made to pursue!) After much agony (seriously trying to make a decision was making me feel sick), talking to my husband, friends, praying, etc. I have decided I will be cancelling my Independent Contract with Initials, Inc. on the last day of the month. *Updated – my final day will be May 26th* I wanted to give everyone a fair announcement to a) order anything you would like to before I am officially done (for which I greatly appreciate your support!) and/or b) let me introduce you to one of my wonderful friends that is an Independent Creative Partner with Initials, Inc. It is such a wonderful company, and I still can’t speak highly enough for their quality, wonderful leadership, and the free personalization! I just will not have the time to dedicate to it anymore, and definitely not to the home parties needed for the sales quota as I focus more on my new endeavors as well as continue to focus on Nerium as my main direct sales/network marketing business. I do hope to, in the future, introduce embroidery to Pea of Sweetness at which point it would become a conflict of interest with Initials, Inc., and I do not want to ever be doing something in conflict of interest like that or in contradiction to any business’s Policy and Procedures. So this will be my official decision, and I will be sending in my cancellation on the last day of this month. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to serve you in the meantime or if you would like me to connect you with one of my friends who represent Initials, Inc.

So what CAN you expect from me as far as Pea of Sweetness is concerned as well as other businesses, etc.? As of now, nothing else will change. I will just not be representing Initials, Inc. anymore as of the last day of the month. I’m starting to work on preparing my “office” for sewing, and I’m learning my Silhouette Cameo more – starting with making decals. So you should plan on hearing from my updates as they come and start to see more homemade product offerings hopefully within a few months! Pea of Sweetness will still be bringing you reviews and giveaways (Check out my PR Friendly page for more information), larger giveaways, blog hops/link-ups, info on homeschooling (and homeschooling special needs children), health and fitness, military life, raising Special Needs children, Faith, natural/eco-friendly tips and living, and general small business advice and networking as well as links to the direct sales/network marketing businesses I do still (and will still represent – to differing degrees) like Nerium, Forever Green, and Pet Junkie. (I do offer another, but due to policy and procedure I won’t feature it on this website in conjunction with any other businesses, though I may offer a giveaway for it soon!) 😉 I know I desperately need to update my About page as well! I’ll add that to my to-do list this week as well! 🙂
Thank-you to all my wonderful friends and my awesome husband for listening to me as I went through my decisions/concerns with you, and for EVERYONE that has shown me love and supported me along the way as I had my ups and downs with Pea of Sweetness through my husband’s illness, my own medical concerns, etc. I love you and have been so appreciative of all of the prayers and support! Happy Valentine's Day!

Ok, so I’m a day plus (or 2 since it’s almost midnight!) late, but I still felt like I needed to do a Valentine’s post! My Valentine’s Day was non-eventful, but honestly, I prefer it that way. I’m totally not a “romantic” person, though I feel sorry for my husband because he is FANTASTIC at being romantic! It’s not that I don’t appreciate it – it just doesn’t really matter to me one way or another. We went to the “Hood Howdy” last week, which is a way to introduce different services available here at and around Fort Hood. Besides the fact that our sensory sensitive kids didn’t last very long (and my husband had to take the younger 2 to the car), I did get a lot of stuff, learn a lot of stuff, and enter a lot of giveaways! And we WON one! We won a “dinner and a movie” from Pioneer Services. Yes I’m totally linking up to them because seriously it’s so awesome! They gave us a $75 gift card to a Texas Land & Cattle and a $25 gift card to Cinemark! What a blessing! I can’t even tell you the last time we went to dinner and a movie! I’m so excited! So yes, I may not be the “romantic type,” but dinner and a movie sounds fantastic, and I can’t wait to go!
Overall, though, Valentine’s day wasn’t “just another day” here, either. My husband came home early from work because he was sick. I wasn’t feeling well either, so I did a bunch of nothing all day as it was. I was planning like this great fun Valentine’s project for homeschool, but that just didn’t happen. Instead, though, we did “creative play.” B set up a “valentine shop” using an end table and both of the older two kids acted out giving and receiving Valentine’s gifts. For 5 and 4 year olds I would say that is actually a pretty good “project” for Valentine’s day! I think sometimes we try SO hard to set up these perfect projects, follow the curriculum to a “t,” etc. when young kids have so much “natural learning” they can do! I think it’s needed sometimes, too! Obviously practice makes perfect, so learning the same things over and over can be redundant for them it is necessary as well, but I’m beginning to see it’s JUST as necessary to have days where their imagination can run wild! I mean seriously, they set up a Valentine’s “project” all on their own with no prompting! I think sometimes I don’t give them enough credit! Although I had to keep reminding B not to SIT on the table his creativity and ideas for Valentine’s Day were definitely to be applauded! And we all know how good they feel when we give them credit for good ideas! 🙂 So yeah, my husband might have been sick, and I might not have been feeling the greatest, but all in all I would say we had a GREAT Valentine’s Day!

I really considered promoting sales and specials similar to Black Friday, but I had just had my first Initials, Inc party at my home on Saturday, and I was working on getting the word out before I closed the party today. Since I’m trying not to spread myself too thin I didn’t want to focus on too much at once! I felt like I didn’t get much more unpacking and organizing done this week, but I had a great turnout at my first Initials, Inc. party here at our house. We had new friends over and kids and a visit from my mother in-law as well this weekend! It was great! So I’ve been working on wrapping the party up as well as just feeling kind of “blah.” I started a new workout program because the one I had chosen just wasn’t the “right one” for me right now. Tomorrow I’m going to Dallas for a Nerium Real Results Party with Jeff Olson (the CEO) himself as well as his beautiful wife and daughter (both co-founders), co-founder Dennis Windsor, AND National Marketing Director Mark Smith! WOW! Now, I’d like to think my person Real Results parties are pretty fun, but man, I know they’re NOTHING compared to this! LOL If you’re in Texas and interested in going let me know ASAP!! 🙂 Seriously, whether you’re interested in finding out what Nerium can do for you or you’re interested in learning that AND the about the business plan you won’t want to miss this! Nerium is the youngest company EVER to be featured in Success From Home magazine (January 2010 at just over 90 days old!!) Plus my husband has a 4-day weekend for President’s Day, so it helps that he doesn’t have to go into work bright and early as usual on Friday, so I don’t feel so bad if the little guy won’t sleep well for him since I’ll be home late, but he can sleep in! I have a feeling he’ll sleep better WITHOUT my being at home, though! Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Pea of Sweetness is all about being a full-time homeschooling mom of special needs kids, multi-business owner, and military spouse! You have watched Pea of Sweetness go from a dream to start a sewing business making cloth diapers and attachment parenting products to the crush of that dream when my husband got cancer and I couldn’t possibly sit at a sewing machine, to the ups and downs of attempting again and finding out my husband’s cancer returned, to saying well, this is what I can do NOW and finding other means to help build my dream (in direct sales/network marketing businesses). I have had an amazing support system including my wonderful husband, and I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings for our family – and all of yours! So Happy Belated Valentine’s Day! I hope it was a wonderful day of “love” and you have many more! 🙂
