When I’m driving in the car by myself or sometimes when I’m cleaning I tend to listen to music a little bit louder. One of the songs I’ve really been jamming to lately is TobyMac’s “Steal my Show.” As I’m singing it I’m thinking, “yeah, that.” I’m obviously not up performing on stage, but this, THIS, is my stage. This is my platform God has called me to where I can reach out to others. More importantly, where He can reach others through me.
I changed my tagline last month from “Lifestyle Designed by a Full-time Mom” to “My Journey to Proverbs 31” because although this has been my platform for sharing my balance between being a wife, mother, homeschooler, mompreneur, etc. As life shifted so did the nature of the roles and the topics on the blog. Sure, you could say I pursued different business opportunities to make ends meet during my husband’s illness as I didn’t have the time to sew. Now, I’m shifting back to being able to sew and craft again, but the fact of the matter is, God enables me to do everything. Everything. He blesses me with the skills and resources needed. This is the lifestyle He designed for our family – the journey He has given me to take.
That is really what “Steal My Show” is all about. Letting God step in and take what is truly His. Of course, it doesn’t rhyme as nicely when I say “blog” instead of “show,” but if it did I would totally sing that out instead – and I would mean it.
Lord, if You have something to say, please say it. I pray that I never hold You back. If you want to steal my blog. Take it, Lord. It’s yours.
Maybe you don’t have a stage OR a blog. I really want to share what more TobyMac says in this story behind “Steal My Show.” He says it can apply to everything in life. You can take it and make it your own or give it to God and let Him do something bigger. How often do we try to make it our own? My original tagline is a good example! The song ends with these lyrics:
My life
My friends
My heart
It’s all Yours, God
Take it away
My dreams
My fears
My family
My career
Take it away
Take it away
It’s all Yours, God
Take it away
Take it away
It’s You I wanna live for
Yes, God. Just take it away.
