Disclosure: I received a resqme tool to facilitate my resqme review. Regardless, all opinions are my own.
Do you have a plan if you’re ever in an accident? Are you equipped to carry out that plan? Unfortunately, many people don’t think about these things until it happens to someone they know or themselves. The slogan of resqme says it all, though, “when seconds count…” Because in an emergency situation, seconds DO count, and it’s important that you’re equipped with what you need to make the most of those seconds and protect yourself and your family.
Resqme is a small, portable emergency tool that arms you with the ability to get out of your vehicle in an emergency situation. It is both a seat-belt-cutter and window-breaker. Because of its compact size, it can be kept close at hand. You don’t have to try to reach the glove box, console, under the seat, etc. You can keep it on your key chain, on your sun visor, or loop on your rearview mirror or head rest. For my review I received a pink resqme. Not only am I now equipped with a life-saving device, but this special resqme also helps fight breast cancer. Resqme has partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation so sales of the pink resqme tools directly fund mammograms and research for the cure. Learn more about resqme pink.
Although, I haven’t run into a situation where I needed to use the resqme (for which I am thankful), I did want to get familiar with it and note some features. The key ring clips on over the blade to cut the seat belt. It is not so hard to pull off that I have to strain, but it’s not so easy to pull off that I worry it might accidentally pull off if I’m rummaging through my purse or the kids pull on the key chain. I didn’t have a spare seat belt on which to test the blade, and I’m not sure other materials would be a sufficient comparison, but I can attest that the blade does work.
The window breaker requires twelve pounds of pressure to activate the spring-loaded spike, so again, I am glad I don’t have to worry about it accidentally going off.
I love that the resqme is so small and portable. When seconds count you don’t want to waste them trying to find the right tools. It is used by many emergency personnel. Plus they not only sell the resqme tool but have a commitment to increase safety awareness. They share helpful information like how to escape a sinking car and more on their blog. They are made in the USA and distributed worldwide.
