Are you ready for a Flashback? Coming March 21st and 22nd blasts from the past meet fitness at the Flashback Fitness Expo and 5K/10K. Two great events filled with flashback, fashions, fitness, and fun! Get ready because it’s time to start preparing mentally, physically, and well, fashionably as well! Here are the details!
Flashback Fitness Expo
The Flashback Fitness Expo will take place Friday, March 22, 2014 from 3pm – 9pm at the South Shore Harbour Resort in League City, TX. Some of the highlights include:
- Piloxing®, SURFSET® Fitness and Zumba® Fitness Sessions
- “Ask the Experts” Sessions
- Awesome 80s Wii Arcade
- Strike-A-Pose Costume Dance Contest
- Music from the 60s – 90s & Pop2K

Plus you can enjoy healthy food options in VIP area which will feature the Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. “Beachside to Boardwalk” cookbook recipes. If you’re participating in the Fun Run the following day, this will also be the last pick-up point location for your packets. If you’re coming from out of town, this is also a great way to have a good time the day before the event, pick up your packet, and get a good night’s rest without a long drive the morning of the run!

Flashback 5K/10K Fun Run
It’s time to hit the pavement and take your favorite flashback styles on the 5K or 10K Fun Run! The USATF certified 5K and 10K event will begin at 7:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the parking lot of the Lakes Professional Center in League City, TX. This event benefits the Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. in its efforts to help improve opportunities of health and literacy in their community.
To celebrate your accomplishment, there will also be a post-run party at Jackie’s Brickhouse – 1053 Marina Bay Drive.

What: Flashback 5K/10K Fun Run
When: Saturday, March 23, 2014 at 7:30am
Where: Starting Point is the parking lot of the Lakes Professional Center

Event Fees: Early/Race Day
Kids 1K $20.00 / $20.00
5K Walk/Run $40.00 / $45.00
10K Run $45.00 / $50.00
Age Divisions & Awards
Kids ages 2-13 – All Kids Dash participants will receive a $20 gift card to Sports Authority
5K/10K participants: 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers from each age division.
CASH awards go to the top three male and female finishers of the 5K and 10K.
1st place overall male & female 10K-$250 5k- $150
2nd place overall male & female 10k-$100 5K -$100
3rd place overall male & female 10k-$50 5k-$50
Discount accommodations are available at the South Shore Harbour Resort for Flashback Fun Run participants who book before March 7, 2014.

It’s Time to Prepare!
Now that you’re clued in on the fun, it’s time to prepare! First, check your own closets for any clothes you may have held on to from your favorite past time moments. Perhaps if they don’t fit you they may fit one of your children or a friend or other family member. If there is nothing to be found, you can hit the thrift stores, which are known to have styles from various eras. Be sure to pick your favorite era and choose a full style idea before shopping. You don’t want to accidentally clash two of them together because you couldn’t quite remember if that was the 70’s or the 80’s! Don’t forget accessories and makeup and hair styles for the ladies as well!
If you will be participating in the run, it is also important to prepare for the run itself. If you have any medical conditions, be sure to let your doctor know of your intent to participate and get the OK. Make sure you build up to the 5K or 10K depending on your current fitness level and the run in which you hope to participate. Don’t forget to eat well, drink a lot of water, and always stretch before running!
