Zeenie Dollz – Help Raise Eco-Awareness

December 21, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Zeenie Dollz
Eco-friendly living encompasses SO much, and part of it is modeling it and educating them as well. When I learned about Zeenie Dollz my first thought was they are such a great idea! Zeenie Dollz are eco-friendly dolls that are fashionable as well! If you have a girly girl like our daughter, and you want to encourage eco-friendly living, you will want to check out Zeenie Dollz! What is most unique about Zeenie Dollz is they are eco-friendly in many ways!
Zeenie Dollz are made entirely from recycled materials and non-toxic plastics, which means eco-conscious parents like myself don’t have to stress over the materials used in the making of the dolls! To be sure to follow the eco-friendly mission, the packaging is also made of a biodegradable plastic.
The other neat feature of the Zeenie Dollz is their story! Zeenie Dollz are “eco-warriors!” Each Zeenie Doll represents an environmental cause that needs attention. This helps to further raise awareness for environmental causes for young girls in a way that is truly unique! Each doll has a specific cause – something they protect, something they defend with Zennia as the leader of the girls. The other five fashionista eco-warriors are:

  • Evee: Protector of the Skies and Defender against Pollution
  • Kazumi: Protector of the Polar Regions and Defender against Global Warming
  • Lina: Protector of the Rainforest and Defender against Deforestation
  • Sini: Protector of Farmland and Defender of Mistreated and Abused Animals
  • Yana: Protector of the Oceans and Defender of Marine Conservation

Sounds like a great set of eco-warriors, right? I love how unique their names are! The Zeenie Dollz were brought to life by a mother and daughter who were passionate about the cause to bring the characters from a sketch on paper to the dolls they are today!

Our Review

For our review I chose Sini because our 6 year old LOVES animals, and helping animals is already a passion of hers. Protecting farmlands is something I think is VERY important and something I already talk about, so I thought the combination was wonderful and would be perfect for her!
Zeenie Dollz Review
Aurora was so excited! Since she is a beginning reader, I told her her doll’s name and read the information that came with her. I love how the background in the box relates to her cause. Included with Sini is also an “Eco-Warrior Membership Card.” It has a cute pink ribbon attached, and a place we could fill out all of her information. She thought that was neat!
Just opening up Sini for the first time sparked her interest and prompted her to ask more questions as I explained that she protects farmlands and defends mistreated and abused animals. It opened up the opportunity to visit the Zeenie Website where we discovered a lot of great information like Sini’s Green Farm and Rescue Environment where there are downloads like screen savers and wallpapers, information about Animal Rescue, information on things you can do to help neglected and abused animals, zCards, and games! We mostly checked out Sini’s page because Aurora wanted to learn more about her doll, but they have this kind of information and more on all of the dolls and causes! They even have a free app in the App Store!
Aurora has also been having a blast playing with her Sini doll. With the 12 ball joints, it makes it easier for play! Of course, she also loves that Sini came with a dog as well! She loves to brush Sini’s hair and all the fun stuff girls do with their dolls! I think it’s just extra special that Sini isn’t “just” a doll but is made of safe and eco-friendly materials and teaches and encourages her to learn more about important causes as well!

Educational Toys Planet

Christmas is just around the corner – do you have some kiddos left on your shopping list? Educational Toys Planet offers a wide variety of toys that are both educational and fun! Kids love to play, and they learn a lot through play! As a mom, I am always on the lookout for toys with educational value. As a homeschooling mom if I can find ways to connect lessons with play time, that is even more exciting!
For our review we received the Frontier Logs 300 pc Wooden Classic Construction Play Set, and the kids weren’t the only ones who were excited when we saw what was in the box! Not only did I have great memories of building cabins and forts myself when I was young, but I knew it would also be a great learning experience!
Educational Toys Planet
The Frontier Logs Play Set is a great toy for the whole family. Our kids (ages 3, 5, and 7) can all work together to build a fort or houses as well as play with the characters. In addition to the construction skills they are also learning teamwork as well! Building is a great way for kids to learn about physics, mechanics, and motion. Educational Toys Planet offers a variety of Construction Sets ranging from ages 2-13!
In addition to teamwork and building our kids were also learning about history as they asked stories about the action figures with which they were playing. Although their question was a simple “who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?” it obviously branched into a lesson of the History of the Wild West! Obviously the answer isn’t as simple as their question, but I love that there was an opportunity to discuss history! Because they had visuals and were enjoying playing with them they were also very open to and curious about learning more!
Now the kids reenact the battles with each other, and sometimes our preschooler reenacts them by himself! They have a great time using imaginative play as well, which I also encourage!

In Summary:

I like the Frontier Logs Play Set because it doesn’t require any tools or special skills. You don’t even have to build things exactly like they are in the instructions. It allows kids to use their imagination but also to think about how to build the structures properly as well. If you have more than one child it also helps them to practice teamwork if they are building structures together. The action figures help to teach history and again helps encourage creative play.
I think the Frontier Logs Play Set would be a great gift for many kids! Their recommended ages are 4-8. Be sure to check out the shipping information to see the cutoff dates to guarantee delivery in time for Christmas!

Tmart Magic Intelligence Test Cube {Review}

July 27, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: I received the product mentioned to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own.
Tmart offers online shopping at extremely low prices and worldwide free shipping! They have a wide variety of products from Electronics to Toys and Accessories. If the low prices and free shipping aren’t enough they also offer regular coupons and a Clearance section. They have a Lowest Price Guarantee and 90 Day Money Back Guarantee. Tmart also offers a point rewards program for things like: registering, writing product reviews on their site, subscribing to their newsletter, and more which can be used for discounts on your purchases.
So aside from the excitement of discovering a new shopping site, I was also excited to recieve a Magic Intelligence Test Cube to review. Our family loves puzzles and games. Basically anything that makes us think earns extra points in our house. It arrived in packaging in a foreign language. The instructions are in the same language, though it does have pictures. I actually don’t want to know how to solve it, though, because what fun is that?
tmart reviews
At first, the cube was a little hard to turn, but I think that is pretty normal. After we broke it in that was no longer a problem. Our older two kids have been working with us as well to solve it. I think my husband knows how because he is really good at puzzle games, but he is letting us try. We still haven’t solved it, but it has been a great family activity to work on a little each day!
What I think is really great is this Magic Intelligence Cube is only $5.53 and ships for free, so that is all you pay! Plus, in my package I also received a flyer with additional coupon codes I could use on future purchases! For a family with a tight budget I only wish we had known about Tmart sooner!

Maya Organic Pom Pom Rail Review and Giveaway (ends 4/17)

April 3, 2013 by Emilee Evans

Pom Pom Rail
Dandelion Baby, LLC‘s focus is on products with a story, whether it’s eco-friendly, fair trade, or made in the USA. When I saw they offer Maya Organics Natural toys I was definitely intrigued to learn more! After my husband’s cancer diagnosis we really started educating ourselves more on the ingredients in our products, and we learned it extends far beyond what you eat and put on your body. Children’s toys can contain some of the worst ingredients, and how those toys are made isn’t always a positive situation. So when I learned that Maya Organic toys are not only natural but help support their lacware artisans of Channapatna in Karnataka, India by not only offering them work but also ensuring they have access to health and education facilities I was really impressed! As if the beautiful colors aren’t impressive enough. And the ingredients to make these beautiful colors?
Blue: Extracts from the Indigo Plant
Yellow: Tumeric Powder
Orange: Kanchi KumKum and Tumeric
Red: Kanchi KumKum and Natural Alizarin
Dark Brown: Extracts from the Ratanjyoti Tree
Light Brown: Extracts from Katha
(These are specific to the Pom Pom Rail toy)
Amazing, right? No dyes or paints! And the detail of hand-crafted toys, to me, is always extra special! When it came time to choose which toy to review I let our toddler choose because I surely couldn’t decide! Of course, he about sprung out of the seat when he saw the Pom Pom Rail. He LOVES trains! He also loves pull toys, so it was definitely a great choice for him. He tends to be our emotionally neutral child – he doesn’t often get extremely excited about things, but he definitely got excited over the Pom Pom Rail! In fact, I like to take pictures of products as soon as I receive them so I have pictures before they are put into use, but as soon as he saw what was in that box he grabbed it and took off down the hall with it!

Pom Pom Rail

The Pom Pom Rail has a black pull string with 2 spots of velcro so you can shorten the string if you wish. The velcro came off at one point because Chaz is a bit rough, but I was able to reattach it. I decided to tie a longer string on it, though, because he did need to bend down a little to pull it. I do love the idea of the velcro, though, because I know with strings there is always the risk of getting it wrapped around something it shouldn’t, and with the velcro it would come undone so that wouldn’t be a risk! Overall, I’m really impressed with how well the train itself has held up! OK, to say he is a “bit” rough is a major understatement. Embarrassing to admit – he actually threw it off a balcony while we were on our Easter vacation just so he had an excuse to go out in the backyard – to get it. *EEK!!* But what a test of endurance!! haha I honestly expected chips in the color or even the wood itself by now, but despite how much he plays with it and how rough he can be there are no chips or nicks in the wood or the color! So not only did we discover a toy that can stand up to our special needs kids but also that we are confident knowing there it is also natural and not a hazard to their health!
