History, politics, government—they’re not just for grown-ups anymore. Today’s teens are about to be handed a collapsing nation and it will be their job to fix it. Enter David Bowman. With wit, humor, and the occasional serious note, he skillfully illustrates America’s biggest problems and presents an interactive guide to understanding them that’s so much fun adults will want to read it too!
Check out some of the reviews:
History is not boring, but too often today s presentation of it has become so. David Bowman not only restores history, making it fun again, but he also brings to life the core principles of America s founding and communicates them in such a way that youth develop a personal interest in preserving them. —David Barton, Founder of WallBuilders
If there is a work out there that will help our young people understand why America is great, where we have gone wrong, and how we can restore liberty, ‘What Would the Founding Fathers Think?’ is it. Exciting, funny, inspiring, moving, American! Our founding fathers would be proud. —Shane Krauser, Director of the American Academy for Constitutional Education
My review:
Although my kids are too young to fit into the “target audience” for this book, I will definitely be holding on to it for them to read! It mentioned adults will want to read it, too, and that is absolutely true! I not only enjoyed the humor, but I, myself, actually learned a lot as well! “What Would the Founding Fathers Think?” covered both very pertinent facts about today’s governments as well as pertinent and fun facts about our founding government. There were things I knew about how our government has strayed that I haven’t quite been able to to put into words, and “What Would the Founding Fathers Think?” did it so perfectly that I would definitely recommend it for older kids and teens as well adults! I enjoyed the illustrations, the way it is written and laid out with bits of fun facts thrown in called a “Side Order of Fries.”
“What Would the Founding Fathers Thinks” starts off with James Madison, George Washington, and Ben Franklin traveling in a time machine to our country today. They amusingly use web chat to talk to today’s youth and talk about how our Country was founded and what makes it so different and unique. They answer some great questions and give some great, easy to understand examples describing how and why our government was founded. After taking the time to discuss all of it and answer questions they take a little break and turn the tables. How is our government different today? Well, the pyramid of how it was founded has been flipped upside down, and I, personally couldn’t agree more! They use some of the same examples to show how it is directly opposite of the examples in the first half of the discussion. I really like how they put the thoughts in to real life examples young people can understand!
Overall, I really enjoyed “What Would the Founding Fathers Think?” I found it not only educational, but pertinent and fun to read. I also think the message is VERY important. There were parts that were downright hilarious (like the He-Man reference – that really made me laugh because I was a big He-Man fan growing up). There were parts that were very interesting and educational. I think overall, it is such a great balance and very well written. The author, David Bowman, is absolutely right when he expressed that the next generation will inherit the nation and should be informed. We should instill knowledge into our youth and empower them to make the right choices and be armed with this type of information. We surely can’t rely on the media to do it for us!
If you’re needing the words, facts, and a bit of humor to communicate with your older kids and teens (or even your family and friends) I would definitely recommend “What Would the Founding Fathers Think?”

As a Christian and as a patriot, David Bowman glorifies his Savior and his nation through his fine art, his books, and his motivational speaking.
David also writes and illustrates a variety of books for young audiences. Combining his cartooning skills
and his experience teaching at a high school level, David knows how to engage kids, pre-teens, and
teens with books that are both entertaining and enlightening. His best-selling Who’s Your Hero series

Happiness teaches them of God’s plan for their lives and Dude, Don’t be a Lemuel helps older kids and
teens avoid negative, faith-destroying attitudes.
In the political realm, David’s latest work is quickly becoming THE Constitutional/conservative book
for young Americans. In What Would the Founding Fathers Think? A YOUNG American’s Guide to
Understanding What Makes Our Nation Great & How we’ve Strayed, David uses wit, humor, and a
variety of visuals to skillfully teach preteens and teens alike the wisdom of returning to our nation’s
founding principles, and in a way that they will actually “get it”. Even adults will enjoy the simplicity
of its explanations. As Barbara Stowell, Vice President of Constitution Week USA, puts it: “I’ve learned
more from this book than all the other government and constitutional course material I’ve studied.”
And David loves to teach! He speaks to youth groups on religious and political topics all over the
country. His fun, engaging style, on a variety of topics, helps motivate them to be all-around better
