I am always on the lookout for eco-friendly products. I often think of how the products we’re using could be affecting our health and the environment. Something I’ve considered is our toothbrushes. I have considered what goes into the manufacturing process (seriously, what AM I putting in my mouth a couple times a day?). Something I more recently considered is how much waste it creates when we throw those plastic toothbrushes away! Maybe it’s just my kids, but they go through toothbrushes like crazy! Either they wear down the bristles quickly (or chew on them) or they decide they want a new character or design and someone (Grandma!) will send them a new one with this preference! If all families go through toothbrushes like this I imagine the waste is a lot!
When I saw the WooBamboo eco-friendly toothbrush my first thought was “what a great idea!” and my second thought was “we need to try those!” Woo Bamboo Eco Toothbrushes are made with bamboo that’s organically grown, biodegradable, sustainable, and antimicrobial (naturally!). Plus the bristles are recyclable. Not to mention they look really neat, too!
For our review we received two WooBamboo Toothbrushes with soft bristles. One was a standard handle and the other was a slim handle.
I was excited to try one! The first thing I noticed was how smooth the toothbrush was. Because it is bamboo I wasn’t sure what to expect from the texture, but they don’t feel rough! I discovered they’re coated with a natural wax that not only keeps them smooth but dry as well. I did notice this upon first use. I definitely expected the bamboo would stay wet for a while after brushing, but this wasn’t the case at all! It dried right up!
For grip, I personally preferred the standard handle. It fit very nicely in my hand, and the ergonomic curve was perfect for me as I have fine motor challenges. I did find the slim handle made it a little easier to reach the very back teeth, though, particularly where I have a bothersome wisdom tooth that is taking its time coming in and catching a lot of stuff in the meantime! Having both actually makes for a nice combination! I mostly use the standard handle, but if I am really having trouble reaching the back of my teeth I will use the slim handle, though I can generally reach them with the standard handle as well – just not as easily.
The soft bristles were perfect for me as I have sensitive teeth. I saw they offer super soft as well, but I felt comfortable with the soft. If you prefer harder bristles, they offer a medium as well.
Overall, I’m really happy with the Woo Bamboo Toothbrushes. I’m glad to know I will be saving on waste and I don’t have to wonder what I’m putting in my mouth a couple times a day! I feel better knowing they’re made with safe ingredients. Plus, they are dentist approved! I’m also anticipating the arrival of the “Sprout” WooBamboo, which is a smaller sized brush for kids or travel that will be coming out this year! I am definitely glad to have discovered an eco-friendly toothbrush!
