Many people say writing is a dying form of communication, but it is such a unique and personal form of communication! The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities takes this idea above and beyond what I even imagined! Author Chris Lucas has been writing letters for 30 years, and he has had a lot of results!
The original Guide to Celebrity Letters was initially written as a way to help other young actors that needed advice on writing letters to advance their careers just as Chris Lucas had done. That was his only intention. When one of the young actors gave the book to his mom who was the head of their PTA found the book very useful for other purposes as well, and that is how the current version was born.
So whether you are looking to write to a celebrity and get a response, advance your career, contact celebrities for charity events, contacting a CEO of a company, just teaching letter writing, or whatever else you may think of – The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities is a “must have!”
To kick off the book Chris Lucas shares a Foreword explaining how he got into letter writing, and how influential his dad was in regards to writing letters. He shares many personal success stories that came from written letters from both his dad and himself. I was so inspired by the stories I forgot it was the Foreword of the book! They are phenomenal! He explains how he started off by making a few mistakes, but then he learned from them to create more personal letters. He shares how writing Celebrity Letters helped get products, celebrities, etc. to their charity events as well as how Celebrity Letters helped accelerate his career. I love how he shares that he is passing letter writing down to his children as well!
Although I found the Foreword to be a great read, The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities offers more than just examples of the power of writing letters. It walks readers through making the most of writing letters step by step. It provides information such as:
- Where to find Celebrity Addresses (including the Celebrity Letters Website!).
- What you will need to get started.
- What to do before you mail your letter.
- The Six Basic Parts of a Successful Letter.
- Sample letters.
- Examples of Successful Letter Writers.
I love how it is all broken down part by part in easy steps. I find this beneficial not only for those of us who are looking to improve our letter writing skills but also as a great resource for teaching our children as well! Our kids are still young and can’t write letters just yet (at least not by themselves), but I plan to use The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities to supplement our homeschool curriculum when they get older. They already love to receive mail, so can you imagine how excited they would be to receive mail from someone special they chose to write?
In fact, I hope by the end of this month to use The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities to help dictate their letters myself while allowing them to choose a recipient and helping them through the process. Although they are still learning to read (and therefore not able to write a letter on their own), I can start working with them early to encourage letter writing skills. “The Six Basic Parts of a Successful Letter” is so thorough from how to brand yourself subtly to wishing them well at the end of the letter! It’s not just about the mechanics of letter writing – it’s about etiquette and how to make the most of the letters you write!
There are also some great resources on the Celebrity Letters website that you will definitely want to check out as well. If you need a little help getting started Consulting Services are available. Signup for their newsletter and receive a free Bonus Offer!
The Guide to Writing Letters to Celebrities would make a great holiday gift for homeschool families, children, teens, teachers, and more! Both the ebook and paperback book can be purchased on the Celebrity Letters Website.
