Learn to Draw a Cat {Drawing Tutorial}

August 31, 2014 by Emilee Evans

As a homeschooling mom, I have to teach a lot of subjects. The good news is, I don’t have to be an expert at all of them. I am always thrilled to find resources to help me teach my children things I may not be able to teach them myself. When it comes to drawing, I’m not too bad. When it comes to teaching them how to draw, I kind of get “stuck.” I don’t remember how I learned. I just remember drawing – much like our 6 year old does. Our 8 year old needs a little more guidance, though.
When Kathy from WeDrawAnimals.com introduced me to her animal drawing tutorials for kids, I knew I had to check them out and share them with you! She was also kind enough to provide a drawing tutorial of a cat for me to share!

Super cute, right? We’re going to be using it for our art lesson tomorrow! Our daughter will be thrilled because she just absolutely LOVES cats! She draws them her own way, but I know she will just love this, and I think having them broken down step by step like this is great!
I also saw that they have a different cat tutorial in their free ebook. Yes, not only do they provide a lot of great (free) tutorials on their website, but they also have a free ebook of drawing tutorials that includes 100 animals.
Honestly, although I think it’s a fabulous resource for teaching kids to draw, I’m going to admit, I’m going to be using it as well! I like to learn how to draw different things as well! With over 100 different tutorials in the ebook alone, we’re going to have some fun art lessons together! I love that some are simple and some are more complex! Plus, it’s free! What animal would you try to draw first?

      I understand! I have one child that begs for art (our daughter), but the boys are pretty complacent. Their tutorials have something kids (and adults) of any level can do, though, which is nice!
