Teach Them Diligently is Coming to Sandusky!

April 30, 2016 by Emilee Evans

Is anybody else getting excited for Teach Them Diligently Sandusky? Not only is it going to be a great event for families, in general, but it’s also at Kalahari Resorts, which means some bonus fun, right? I have never been to Teach Them Diligently Sandusky or Kalahari, so I am beyond excited! Plus, it’s close to Cedar Point as well!

About Teach Them Diligently Sandusky

The focus of Teach Them Diligently is on the foundation of Christian home education, which is the discipleship of our children – helping them to learn to love the Lord their God with all their heart, mind and strength. It is their belief that by strengthening this foundation in families, not only will their homeschool be more successful in all areas, but their family will also function better.
With that in mind, in addition to the “Meat and potatoes” home education workshops that we offer, they also have a large number of classes that deal with parenting, discipleship, marriage, dads, moms, etc. The workshops even cover health and nutrition topics to try to help our families leave with a lot of tools to address issues within their families and homeschools.
Then, of course, is the Vendor Hall! There will be around 200 booths ranging from curriculum to homeschool resources, to essential oils and other health products. They build in some special shopping times, too, so our families can fully explore the vendor hall without having to sacrifice hours of workshops.
There will be a special keynote address on Thursday evening from Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis, addressing why young people are leaving the church and how to avoid this in your own family. Additionally, a second exciting keynote is scheduled for Friday morning when Cary Summers of the Museum of the Bible and David and Jason Benham will present an exciting look at the Bible (and how the Museum of the Bible will be presenting the history and science of the Bible to the world!) and how the truths of the Bible affects our daily lives right here and now, in this culture.
Mom's Night at TTD
On Friday night, they host an Evening Of Real Refreshment for Moms (hosted by Rachael Carman). That evening has proven to be a real blessing to the moms who attend– with fun, encouragement, and a great opportunity for fellowship. They also host a men’s power coffee to provide that same time for dads. Todd Wilson will be hosting that power coffee.
That’s just part of it! I have been told that it will be different than any other event you have ever attended. God has done great things through TTD in the hearts and lives of the families who have joined us, and we are so grateful for that! I cannot wait to connect with other homeschoolers and the vendors! I know I will be blessed! If you’re attending, I’d love to connect!

Fun Times at the LEGO Creativity Tour Ohio

December 6, 2015 by Emilee Evans

After enjoying LEGO KidsFest in Texas in 2013 we were so excited for the opportunity to visit the LEGO® Creativity Tour in Columbus now that we’re here in Ohio! It was an event we absolutely couldn’t miss!
LEGO KidsFest
This is a sponsored post on behalf of LEGO® Creativity Tour. My family received 4 tickets to attend the event. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and those of my family.
When the day of the LEGO Creativity Tour came, we were so ready to go have some fun! We attended the second Friday session and definitely had some fun! Our time was a little different than our previous time since the kids are older. We decided to take it in stride and let our trip unfold as it would. I really enjoyed the session breakups because it definitely helped us set up a plan. We knew exactly how long we could be there and knew it wouldn’t be overcrowded, which is always an advantage when you have children with sensory challenges!
LEGO Creativity Tour Ohio Spider-Man
We got started right away! First, we had to stop to see Spider-Man and play the game at the little LEGO city. It’s a game where you search for specific things within the scene, and it’s so much fun! After that we proceed to one of the building areas. The Monochromatic Build area offered the chance to build with multiple bricks of the same color. It’s fun to see what everybody comes up with!
LEGO Creativity Tour Monochromatic
One of our youngest son’s highlights was one of the big Build Areas. He not only got to create whatever he wanted, but he also got to have it displayed in the case. What I loved about this is that it didn’t matter that he has special needs and has a hard time building something fancy. He got to build what he wanted to the best of his ability, and they made him feel really special!
LEGO Creativity Tour Display Case
Once more the kids enjoyed the big Brick Pile. There were many kids enjoying them! It’s just so fun for them! They can build a little or just play in it!
LEGO Creativity Tour Brick Pile
Of course, I can’t forget to mention the life size models of various characters. They are seriously amazing! They are made up entirely of LEGO® bricks! We saw some of our favorites from LEGO Kidsfest and a few new ones! We had to walk through and check them all out!
LEGO Creativity Tour Models
The kids had fun posing with the lion and building and racing little cars. It was fun testing them to see how they would work and how well they would race!
LEGO Creativity Tour Activities
In addition to all the great LEGO related activities, there were additional activities that were a blast for the kids. They learned a little bit of science thanks to COSI and got to climb a rock wall! They had so much fun!
LEGO Creativity Tour Extras
Overall, we actually spent almost the full time there! We did so much and had so much fun, but there was also so much more! Some of it was geared more toward older children and/or adults as it was more challenging. I love that they offer such a variety for young children all the way through adults! There is something for everyone! In fact, one of our friends joined us as well!
We definitely had a great time at the LEGO Creativity Tour, and can’t wait for it to come around again! Be sure to connect with the LEGO Creativity Tour/LEGO Kidsfest on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date!

The LEGO® Creativity Tour is Coming to Columbus! {Ticket Giveaway!!}

October 8, 2015 by Emilee Evans

We had an absolute blast at the LEGO® KidsFest a few years ago in Houston and I am so thrilled it’s coming to Columbus next month! Our family cannot wait to go! When I even mentioned it to my husband, our kids got so excited!
LEGO Creativity Tour
Disclosure: Our family will be receiving complimentary tickets to the event in exchange for my posts and promotions. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
The LEGO Creativity Tour, Powered by LEGO KidsFest, is coming to the Greater Columbus Convention Center Nov 20-22 for eight identical sessions. The LEGO Creativity Tour will offer children of all ages an opportunity to build, create and enjoy an immersive LEGO experience through engaging play areas, family-oriented building activities and more.
Some of the activities in the 118,000 square-foot space include:

  • LEGO Model Museum: walk among life-sized models made from LEGO bricks
  • Race Ramps: build a custom car, then race it down the ramp against friends and family
  • Challenge Zone: the whole family is on the hook to show off their creative building skills in this emceed challenge
  • Construction Zone: enjoy a creative build, play, and display area
  • LEGO DUPLO: the youngest builders can explore building their imaginations and so many ways to play with DUPLO bricks
  • Brick Battle Zone: join a team and compete in fun activities like relay races, tower speed build and bridge building contests
  • Big Brick Pile: dive into the largest pile of LEGO bricks ever seen to build something amazing
  • LEGO Art Gallery: create a custom masterpiece and display it for all to see
  • Monochromatic Builds: limiting the materials to one color and one size creates amazing results
  • And much more!

Our kids are obviously older now, but I have no doubt they will still love some of their favorite activities like the Big Brick Pile! They thought it was so much fun!

“Since we began the LEGO KidsFest six years ago, we have been flooded with requests to visit more cities and regions across the country, but they don’t all have the space to host a KidsFest,” said Vince Rubino, senior events manager at LEGO Systems, Inc. “The LEGO Creativity Tour leverages some of the best of the LEGO KidsFest experience in a more flexible format to enable us to visit with even more families with an interactive, hands-on LEGO celebration.”
