As a busy homeschool mom, I spend a lot of time planning and preparing lessons, getting supplies ready, etc. The thought of having lessons already prepared and supplies already ready for the lessons with little to no preparation on my part sounds like a much welcomed breath of fresh air!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary product to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
Imaginative University offers fun and educational activity kits for kids delivered monthly right to your door. Their kits are ideal for ages 4-10 and cover topics like science, math, art, literacy, engineering, and history. Each month’s kit contains activities and supplies based on specific themes.
For our review, we received the January Kit, which had the theme of snow!
What I love about the snow activity kit is that it had a variety of activities starting with the appreciation of snow through literature and the book Snowflake Bentley. This led us into the various activities. I love that it covered not just literature or just art or just science. There was a little bit of everything! We read the book, made snowflakes, experimented with different types of snow themed project like Insta-Snow, speed melting, and more! There was a Cool-Science addition as well!
The activity kits make everything extremely easy. Most activities are color-coded and easy to get everything ready. In fact, the only things I needed to provide myself were things like water and basic supplies like scissors, measuring spoons, cups, etc. Even things like plastic cups were included! It made it really easy! It took less than 5 minutes of preparation on my part, and we had a great lesson to add to our homeschool day!
I have been using the activity kit with our oldest two children (ages 7 and 8), though our 4 year old would occasionally sit in or observe an activity. The activities were both fun and educational. There was only one activity we couldn’t complete because it contained Borax, which is an ingredient I don’t allow in our home, and I wasn’t sure what would be an acceptable alternative for this particular activity. We could make the Epson salt crystals but couldn’t compare the two. Regardless, it was still a fun experiment!
The activities can be spread out while still focusing on the key topic. I found it was best to do one or two activities per day. I think the Imaginative University Activity Kits for kids are a great idea for parents whether homeschooling or busy parents looking for easy but educational activities. It was a great way to supplement our homeschool curricula and was a much welcomed break from planning and preparing – perfect for this season in our life when I’m still unpacking from our move!
Imaginative University Activity Kits for kids offers a monthly subscription service, so you can be sure you receive great educational activities each month (prices vary by state but range from $18.42 – $29.00/month)! If you need additional supplies for a sibling, they offer a sibling add-on for just an additional $10/month.
