It is no secret that we’re a family of gamers. A few nights a week I take a break from blog posts and have some gaming time with my husband, and we have a blast. The kids are definitely following in our footsteps! Since our oldest is on the Autism spectrum, games have been a great way for him to express his creativity, use his imagination and critical thinking skills. He loves the challenge and rewarding feeling from creating something new, accomplishing a specific task, or whatever it may be. So when I saw MyDream I knew this was something our family had to try!

Imagine how easy it is to craft and build in Minecraft and how beautiful and Zen-like the environment is in Journey. Now put that in an adventure RPG and you have MyDream.

I think the quote above describes it quite well! MyDream is a new, unique game in which you can create your own world. It is a completely modifiable 3D environment. There are puzzles and quests and the ability to work with others. In other words, it has it all – strategy, creativity, cooperation, critical thinking, etc. It mixes geocaching, building, and RPG games in a world generated by you. So you will experience something different with each login. Check out the demo below:

As you probably noticed in the video, the graphics are beautiful! You actually get to play and construct in a realistic sandbox. I was drawn in by the graphics before we even got on the game. I know everybody has their “things,” and graphics are a big deal for me. What I like most, though? I feel like this is a game everyone in the family can play, and I don’t have to worry about it. There isn’t anything in the game that is worrisome like senseless violence. Plus, our oldest son was able to just jump right in and start playing. There was nothing that was too difficult for him or frustrating for him. He was able to just get right on and start exploring.
I also appreciate the diversity of MyDream. Everybody has a different gaming style. I’m a quester. I love to complete quests and earn achievements. Our son is a creator. Although he loves the rewards he receives when he completes tasks, he really enjoys being able to set the pace and do his own thing. He loves to design and create. My husband is a team player. He most enjoys gaming with others. Our daughter likes anything that is slow-paced and not too difficult. Our youngest son just likes to watch. 😉 He’s just a preschooler, and I know when he’s older he’ll be playing games as well!
Although our son has had the most play time on MyDream for our quick preview, we all got a little glimpse of it, and I know it’s a game we all can play and enjoy. I am really excited to explore it some more. Stay tuned because I will be taking more time this week to explore it and write a thorough review. I might even have a giveaway! 😉
