I love watching our kids learn while they’re having fun! Kids learn so much through play!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary product to facilitate my review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
Lakeshore Learning offers a wide variety of educational products designed to help children learn through play. They offer products for Infants – 11 years old as well as educational products for parents that encourages learning in all areas. As a homeschooling mom, I love toys and games with educational value and not only love to watch our kids learn through independent play but also love to incorporate it into our homeschool day as well!
For our Lakeshore Learning review we received the Pet Vet Clinic. Our kids love animals – especially our preschooler and 6 year old daughter. I love any opportunity for them to explore and learn more about animals, so I was really excited about this kit!
Even though I saw pictures of the Pet Vet Clinic on their website, I was still surprised to see how much it included when we opened it up! My husband had to come see what all the fuss was about when I’m excitedly yelling out that it includes even the small details like cotton balls and cotton swabs. There are labels for the containers and medicine bottles, office signs, wellness charts, bandages, medical tape, clipboard, and so much more! This isn’t just a kit with a stethoscope and box!
In addition to the little details it does, of course, include the main instruments like the stethoscope, scale, tray, and box. Additionally, you can even get a little patient – an adorable stuffed bulldog or cat! We received the bulldog.
The kids rushed me to take pictures of everything so they could start using it! As I was putting labels on and putting things together they were asking questions, so I was able to explain what everything could be used for. Of course things like the cotton swabs and cotton balls can be used for a lot of different things, so I asked them to give me ideas for what they think they could use them for as well!
Then, they were ready to go! They chose who would be the veterinarian first, who would be the assistant, and who would be the patient’s pet parent. I love that this allows them to interact and work together in many different ways including taking turns.
Although I let them learn naturally through play, I also take the opportunities as I see them to encourage digging deeper. When I saw our daughter listening to her tiger’s heart, I asked her questions like “What does the heart do?,” “What does it sound like?,” etc.
Overall, we’re so happy with the Pet Vet Clinic! It includes so much detail for an affordable price! The Pet Vet Clinic would make a great gift for children who love or are curious about animals! It promotes natural learning through play! Plus, it encourages writing with the forms! Although younger children may not be able to spell, they can still write letters or ask you how to spell what they want to write! It does have small pieces, so it isn’t recommended for children 3 years old or under.

I love this, what a great tool for children to learn about taking care of pets. Thanks for sharing.
What a very great learning tool for children. What I think is great
is that you learn to be a responsible pet owner.
I agree! I think being a responsible pet owner can help with many aspects in life – like responsibility!

I’ve seen many forms of doctor or nurse bags and medical tools, but I have never seen a vet’s bag. That is so appropriate. My 5 year old granddaughter currently wants to be a vet when she grows up. This would be a great Christmas gift for her.
I agree. I don’t think I’ve really seen a vet kit before either!
