The Sparkle Egg Easter Book Review

March 29, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Disclosure: Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing a copy of The Sparkle Egg to facilitate my Easter book review. No additional compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own and those of my family and are NOT influenced by monetary compensation.
The Sparkle EggBefore Christmas, I had the chance to review The Sparkle Box by Jill Hardie. It is a great story to focus on the real reason we celebrate Christmas and offers a great tradition we started with our family and are excited to continue.
When presented with the opportunity to review The Sparkle Egg also by Jill Hardie, I was excited to share it with our family knowing it would focus on the true reason we celebrate Easter. I was excited to learn more about how it offers a symbol of the true promise of Easter and how we can make it a tradition for our family.
In The Sparkle Egg Sam is feeling guilty about a lie he told his parents and can’t seem to shake that feeling even though they told him they forgave him. On Good Friday they make a special Easter craft – the Sparkle Egg. He was told to draw a picture of anything he felt guilty about or ashamed of and place it in the Sparkle Egg.
On Easter morning when he opens his Sparkle Egg it’s empty! This is a reminder that Jesus died for us and rose again, and we are forgiven. Those things are wiped away.
I think this is such a wonderful lesson that kids can really understand. Our kids are ages 7, 6, and 3, and I felt like they all understood the concept. Although we haven’t made our own Sparkle Eggs yet, it is a tradition we will be starting this Easter. I think it is a great way to remember what Jesus did for us and remember we are forgiven. It’s a very real concept for children to understand God’s perfect grace – something even adults struggle with sometimes!
Once again, I am so happy to share something so important with our children in a way that they can understand. I love to share a moment with our children, and I’m excited to make The Sparkle Egg part of our Easter Tradition. How will you #ShareAMoment this Easter?

Egglo Glowing Easter Eggs {Review}

March 14, 2014 by Emilee Evans

Egglo Review
When we celebrate Easter, we make sure to focus on the true reason we celebrate Easter. That is why I was so excited by what Egglo Entertainment offers! For our review we received Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs, The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book, The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure (book audio download), Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls, and The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide full of activities and guidance for leading a great Easter event with Egglo glow in the dark eggs!
The Egglo products can be used with a large spectrum of ages, but is ideal for about 4-13. Young children and older children alike can appreciate a fun glow in the dark egg hunt and learn a lot about the real meaning of Easter as well. Younger children may not be able to perform some of the activities provided in the Program Guide such as the questions following the Bible reading, but our almost four year old still enjoyed listening to the story and coloring pictures from the Program Guide.
We used the Egglo products here at home with all three of our kids ages 3 (almost 4), 6, and 7. I introduced them to what we were going to be doing by reading The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure. Although we also had the book audio download, which I had played for myself before reading them the story, I chose to read it to them myself because I always enjoy our reading time together.
Egglo Review
After reading them the story we talked about Hardy, Ana, and Pascal’s adventure and how Jesus is the treasure. The kids already knew we were going to be hunting for glowing Easter eggs, and like the kids in the book, they could hardly focus on my telling them why we were going to be hunting for glowing Easter eggs. The story really helped them to focus and explained the meaning of the eggs. Jesus is the light of the world and lights our path even in the darkness. They thought the glowing eggs were so much neater when the knew the real meaning behind them!
I then read to them the story of Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection from Mark, though you could choose to read it from any (or all) of the scriptures that share it. After reading it, I did ask a few questions from the Program Guide about what we just read. Then I let them choose their favorite coloring sheet from the Program Guide so they could color while my husband and I went outside to hide the eggs!
There are twelve eggs in the box. Some have a large cross on them, and some are plain so you can decorate them if you choose. I had already filled the eggs with a treat and one of the Scripture Scrolls to get ready for our egg hunt.
Egglo Scripture Scrolls
To be sure the eggs glow well, the enclosed instructions suggest “charging” them. It explains which light is best and for what time they would need to be in that specific type of light. By this point I had already had the eggs outside in the sun (the best light) for more than the suggested amount of time, so I knew they should be ready to go! Unfortunately, the glow we got wasn’t as bright and beautiful as the eggs on the website, and I think it’s because I brought them inside before hiding them. I think if I had left them out there that would have been best.
With a flashlight and bags in hand they were ready to begin the egg hunt! Unfortunately, our three year old fell asleep while we were hiding the eggs, so he missed the hunting fun this time around!
Egglo Eggs Review
After the egg hunt, we read opened the eggs to discover the treats and read the Scripture Scrolls. It was really a great time. I think the glow in the dark eggs are such a great idea for reinforcing the meaning that Jesus is the light of the world. It is a great way to get kids engaged and help them focus on the true reason we celebrate Easter.
Although we only did a few activities from the Program Guide since we did the egg hunt here at the house with the family, it has extensive details for having a group event including recommendations for snacks and decorations. It has many different activities that are perfect for a group event and even includes posters and invitations.
Each product we received from Egglo Entertainment can be purchased individually as follows:
Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs ($11.99)
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure ($12.99)
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure (book audio download) ($2.99)
Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls ($4.29)
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide ($14.99)
Be sure to check the website, though for coupon codes and special prices. As of writing this Egglo review there is a sale! So be sure to go check it out for your glow in the dark Easter egg hunt!
