September 4, 2012 by Emilee Evans

The Fresh Baby Eventhosted by Mommy Lesson Plans
Prize: Two winners will receive a package with the two plates mentioned below.
Kid's 4-Section MyPlateAdult 4-Section MyPlate
The event dates:9/5-9/19
I love this giveaway! This is such a great idea! Portions can be hard for even adults to comprehend, so this is fantastic as a parent as well!
“The facts are disturbing. One in six children attending school today are obese. The number of obese preschoolers has doubled in the last three decades and 30-40 percent of these children are now at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. More alarming still, a staggering 80 percent of overweight children will grow up to be obese adults. Fresh Baby believes one the key to solving this healthcare crisis lies with parents.”
Review done by Mommy Lesson Plans.

When I was in the classroom, I taught a lot about nutrition. I was always so surprised about how little my students knew about their food. Many of them had no concept about food groups or what a balanced meal is. I know I’m a teacher, and might do things a little differently than the average Jane. But my mom is not a teacher, and she taught me this stuff. I, in turn, am passing it down to my kids. That is why when I saw the Fresh Baby product on another blog, I had to have it. I wrote to the company right away. And I am very glad that I did. These plates are great! They sent me the kid and adult version. My children were very excited about the plates. I had the two older boys tell me what each section of the plate was for and they told me where to put the food. Every time we use them, my kids learn more about nutrition.

The Product

The Kid’s 4-Section Myplate & the Fresh Baby’s Adult 4-Section MyPlate both have 4 divided sections that are appropriately sized portion compartments for Fruits, Vegetables, Proteins, and Grains.  For kids, the plates help teach kids to eat a rainbow of colors. While,  the adult plate endorses healthy portion sizes.
The plates are made out of 100% Melamine. They are lead, BP-A, and Phtalate free, and they are dishwasher safe. (Do not use in the microwave.)
The Fresh Baby company works with the USDA and the “Choose My Plate” initiative. They make many products to support a healthy lifestyle. The Fresh Baby website has a plethora of resources. I love the recipe section, with yummy recipes like Coconut Cilantro Rice and Broccoli Enchiladas. Plus they have a healthy eating section that has wonderful information to help you keep your family healthy.
